The issue of Palestine/Israel and land only
" There no evidence whatsoever of any attempt to impose Islam on the Jews. As is well known, under Muslim rule the Jews of Spain enjoyed a bloom the like of which the Jews did not enjoy anywhere else until almost our time. Poets like Yehuda Halevy wrote in Arabic, as did the great Maimonides. In Muslim Spain, Jews were ministers, poets, scientists. In Muslim Toledo, Christian, Jewish and Muslim scholars worked together and translated the ancient Greek philosophical and scientific texts. That was, indeed, the Golden Age. How would this have been possible, had the Prophet decreed the "spreading of the faith by the sword"?
What happened afterwards is even more telling. When the Catholics reconquered Spain from the Muslims, they instituted a reign of religious terror. The Jews and the Muslims were presented with a cruel choice: to become Christians, to be massacred or to leave. And where did the hundreds of thousand of Jews, who refused to abandon their faith, escape? Almost all of them were received with open arms in the Muslim countries. The Sephardi ("Spanish") Jews settled all over the Muslim world, from Morocco in the west to Iraq in the east, from Bulgaria (then part of the Ottoman Empire) in the north to Sudan in the south. Nowhere were they persecuted. They knew nothing like the tortures of the Inquisition, the flames of the auto-da-fe, the pogroms, the terrible mass-expulsions that took place in almost all Christian countries, up to the Holocaust.
Why? Because Islam expressly prohibited any persecution of the "peoples of the book". In Islamic society, a special place was reserved for Jews and Christians. They did not enjoy completely equal rights, but almost. They had to pay a special poll tax, but were exempted from military service - a trade-off that was quite welcome to many Jews. It has been said that Muslim rulers frowned upon any attempt to convert Jews to Islam even by gentle persuasion - because it entailed the loss of taxes.
Every honest Jew who knows the history of his people cannot but feel a deep sense of gratitude to Islam, which has protected the Jews for fifty generations, while the Christian world persecuted the Jews and tried many times "by the sword" to get them to abandon their faith."

The tension was prophesied in the time of Isaac and Ishmael.
Genesis 16:11-12, 17:20 speaks of Ishmael. Genesis 17:19 21:12 speaks of Isaac. Starting from Genesis 15, God speaks to Abraham and the covenant He will make with Abraham. Palestinians/Muslims believe that the covenant made with Ishmael is for the land of Palestine and is therefore theirs to own. The covenant made with Abraham/Isaac is who actually owns it.
Simply put, read Genesis 15-26.

I believe it is partially, if not abundantly, due to the establisment of the Zionist state of Israel on the Jewish ancient Holy Land, right smack dab in the middle of Arab/Muslim states.
As more and more Jews migrated to Israel (because its their "holy land"), and especially during the rise of Nazism (but even well before), there was alot of fighting and then the state of Israel claimed formal independence (late 1940's) causing more fighting. Eventually, some-what arbitrary lines were drawn in the area, effectively giving Israel some of the best land in the region, while leaving the so-called dregs for the Islamic Arabs.
More recently, their percieved (or real) overly influentual position in the world and particularly the region, as well as ongoing border disputes, fuels ill feelings and tension.
This is obviously not the whole story, its very complicated with historical elements, and I'm no expert, but I think I got the jist of it.

The fact that Jews exist; let me put it a different way. We took a little bit of land BACK from the Muslims and gave it to the jews to have their own little country, which by comparison is extremely small and surrounded by countries full of people who hate them. They took that little tract of desert and turned it into an oasis. All of a sudden, the Muslims see the Jews growing oranges the size of basketballs, and decided that "hey, we want that land back". The word palestine didn't even exist until that point; look it up.

These days it mainly has to do with the nation of Israel. The Allies created Israel after WW2, and supplanted the Palestinians living there. (We took all the Jews out of Europe that had been in concentration camps, shipped them over to the Middle East, marked off some land, called it Israel, gave them a bunch of weapons, and said good luck. They then proceeded to fight and defeat just about every muslim country surrounding them)
They've been fighting ever since. And that's also why the Palestinians don't like us.

The war is not really about the Jews or Muslims. It is about the devil initiating a war against God's people. This means that anyone can be targeted. Check out my question "Do you think the birth of the Red Heifers born in the 1990's is proof that the Messiah is coming soon?" There is an important message for everyone.

Its not Jews its Zionists. I have no problem of the Jewish faith, God will judge them for their deeds, and us for our deeds.

I think that it is the question of who has the right to rule the Holy Land, an Jewish government (Israel) or a Muslin one (Palestinian).
Plus, there is the fact that every time the Palestinians attacked and lost territory to the Jewish state, they also lost their land (and their homes), which Israel does not want to give back, or otherwise pay for (the so called "right of return"), since they won it by fighting back against people that they consider to be aggressors.
