Well I'm atheist right now, and the thought of ceasing to have self awareness just scares the heck out of me. I mean from what I believe in, after I die, I'm just going to be worm food eventually or be burnt to ashes! So then one day I decided to ask a couple of religious buddies of mine, and asked them about this whole afterlife stuff. Heaven, Hell, and the like. But looking at those religions, it seems there would be no way for me to buy my way into Heaven (or whatever it's called in other religions). So how do I get over the fact that one day, I'm going to be some dead bugger?

If there really was a god and the 10 commandments are real how many of you can honestly say they will definately go to heaven??
On the other hand the bible is quite contradictory as god forgives everyone who asks for forgiveness, so does it really matter if we follow the 10 commandments or not as we will get in anyway??
what do you think?

The drive by the Christian right to take control of military chaplaincies, which now sees radical Christians holding roughly 50 percent of chaplaincy appointments in the armed services and service academies, is part of a much larger effort to politicize the military and law enforcement. This effort signals the final and perhaps most deadly stage in the long campaign by the radical Christian right to dismantle America’s open society and build a theocratic state. A successful politicization of the military would signal the end of our democracy. { Chris Hedges, . The former New York Times Mideast Bureau chief }
Is this effort but another power grab by Christian Dominionists?

What do you think of Pat Robertson's comments yesterday about God telling him there would be an attack on America this year? I am a Christian and I don't know what to think. He really may hear from God, but then again he may just be trying to make himself even more famous then he already is. I dont know what to think of him. He seems to be a good Christian and all....but...something does not seem right about this guy.

I would especially like to hear back from other Christians. And please, no Christian bashing from other people.

The more I think about the differences the less important I think they are - if the point of both are to be saved and both agree that one is saved by believing in Christ as Lord and savior then I think the rest is kind of secondary - as long as a person has God at the center of their worship does it really matter if they are in a Catholic or Protestant church - as long as a person truely has God in their heart and truely wants to please Him then I think whatever worship one chooses is ok - it is all about what is in your heart not if you follow a bunch of "rituals and rules" if your point of worship or whatever is to earn "credit" with God then you are not in the right frame of mind and that is not pleasing to God
unfortunetly I think this is what most Catholic churches teach - just show up and go through the motions and you will be ok - i dont think that is correct at all

I had this little thought in the bath tub while I was making a beard out of bubbles...
Do you guys as Christians ever consider the possibility that humans might only be a TINY FRACTION of God's Big Plan? Now I don't mean that in a condescending way, but what I mean is what if the human race gets wiped out: Is there a possibility according to the Bible that another species will take the center stage of God's Plan?
