Actually, that "tiny percent" crack is disputable. New studies in obesity continue to discover genetic factors in the inability to control one's weight.
True gluttony has little to do with overeating, even for its own sake.
Gluttony is described as a fixation on the stomach, replacing the worship of God in primary importance.
In truth, ALL the seven deadly sins are named such because each has the capacity to replace God as the most important factor in a person's life.

Gluttony as a sin is in the Old Testament.
However, whatever sins we have were taken care of on the cross.
So, their sin of gluttony will not by itself send them to hell.
It depends on their relationship with the Father and His Son (John 17:3).

Well, gluttony is a sin...but sinning does not mean you are condemned. We all sin every day. Gluttony is just another form of sinning. There is not one sin greater than the other.

Not only fat people, Paris Hilton too.
Gluttony comes in all forms. She is a glutton for shopping. Fat people for food. Meryl Streep is a glutton for acting.

The Bible says that, "ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." But it also says that, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall have eternal life."

All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.
(Romans 3:9-10) - "What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; 10as it is written, "There is none righteous, not even one."
(Romans 3:23) - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
(Psalm 14:3) - "They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one."
