I think the person might be talking about something like in school or in a public place?
In that case, its because Jesus is offensive to the world except to Christians and other religions that respect him.
And political correctness. For some reason it is politically correct to find Jesus offensive.
I can give scriptural proofs for this but no one likes those answers.
Looking at answers... From the Christian's perspective, you're supposed to pray to God in the name of Jesus.

Allah is our creator and jesus(peace be upon him) is one of the mightiest messenger of Allah. No muslim is a muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (peace be upon him)Four revelations of Allah (swt) are mentioned by name in the Qur’an: the Taurah, the Zaboor, the Injeel and the Qur’an.
Taurah, the revelation i.e. the Wahi given to Moosa (a. s.) i.e. Moses (pbuh).
Zaboor, the revelation i.e. the Wahi given to Dawood (a.s.) i.e. David (pbuh).
Injeel, the revelation i.e. the Wahi given to Isa (A.S.) ie. Jesus (pbuh).
‘Al-Qur’an’, the last and final Wahi i.e. revelation given to the last and final Messenger Muhammad (pbuh).
It is an article of faith for every Muslim to believe in all the Prophets of God and all revelations of God. However, the present day Bible has the first five books of the Old Testament attributed to Moses and the Psalms attributed to David. Moreover the New Testament or the four Gospels of the New Testament are not the Taurah, the Zaboor or the Injeel, which the Qur’an refers to. These books of the present day Bible may partly contain the word of God but these books are certainly not the exact, accurate and complete revelations given to the prophets.
The Qur’an presents all the different prophets of Allah as belonging to one single brotherhood; all had a similar prophetic mission and the same basic message. Because of this, the fundamental teachings of the major faiths cannot be contradictory, even if there has been a considerable passage of time between the different prophetic missions, because the source of these missions was one: Almighty God, Allah. This is why the Qur’an says that the differences which exist between various religions are not the responsibility of the prophets, but of the followers of these prophets who forgot part of what they had been taught, and furthermore, misinterpreted and changed the scriptures. The Qur’an cannot therefore be seen as a scripture which competes with the teachings of Moses, Jesus and the other prophets. On the contrary, it confirms, completes and perfects the messages that they brought to their people.
Another name for the Qur’an is the ‘The Furqan’ which means the criteria to judge the right from the wrong, and it is on the basis of the Qur’an that we can decipher which part of the previous scriptures can be considered to be the word of God.

Niether is offensive unless someone is looking to be offended. People find what they're looking for in life. If someone is looking to offend, they will. If someone is looking to be offended, they will.
It's sad that it matters how anyone prays to anybody else. Any belief is a very personal thing.
I have to say that I don't see anyone getting offended if someone is praying in the name of Jesus or Allah. But then again, I look for total acceptance of others in my life, and usually find it.

I'M sorry, although, let me try to enlighten you with this, perhaps muslin will show some disappointments to whom practice this. As you say prey in the name of Jesus and not to Allah, this although its simple because their culture requires to direct all prayers to the Father God (Allah), better than Jesus. This comes about because the inert problems with the Faith Jew's and in general most all Arabs peoples, Islam and muslin, have to reconcile their faith's, in other Words, in terms to cope with the Jew's religion That as you know steal believes they are the elected race, and who are we to tell then that there is a different true, and although they were the Cause of Jesus Death, they will never give up such believed. which is also the reason Why of such believes, Muslin use to prove the Jewish people wrong. Though this is not the problem with Christianity, because we know that God desires for the Webster civilization is to make Jesus our God. There is a lot more that we can talk about this, although I'm afraid Y answer and Q, isn't the place to expand in this subject to get and received the perfect knowledge about this. Though remember Muslin do bealived in Jesus the Son, as to be the messias, send by God, though there is again, their close minded believed, will not allow then to think any different maybe because God words that promise every one that we can all become like HIM(God), although for what I know Jesus the Son has been the only one that able to show that he can desire his Father(God), trone. reason why I believed Muslin and jew's are under the Imprecion that they may steal have a shoot to the Father Chair?, so, I say to this "Perhaps"?, and ther you have it, this is another kind of Greed!<< God bless you in the name of Jesus .Amen.>>

You sound greater such as you're attempting to evangelise than ask a query yet as you dishonor Christ via demoting the only begotten Son of God to a pair lowly archangel you for sure show you at the instant are not even close to to being a Christian, a follower of Christ yet greater like an Antichrist. JW 12:13 there is in easy terms one mediator between God and the WBT$, the spirit Michael. do not JW's coach...........Christ will comprise many Archangels yelling and with the trumpet of God, consequently as He has the trumpet of God he's God.

Coz Allah is the God and Jesus is a prophet and you should not make mediation between you and Allah, the same thing is on prophet Muhammad we should not pray in his name because he is a human being who Allah chose to spread his word,so you should not pray to a human being but to the God that created you.

It really depends on what kind of religon you are. I don't believe praying in the name of Jesus if offensive. It just depends on your up bringing. Most people don't get offened either way because they know that you are worshiping God. Neither one should be offensive to anybody. Just as long as your beliefs are the same.

The world rejects the Truth, i.e. Jesus Christ. They did so when Jesus was alive. To align yourself with wordly thinking is to reject Christ. Should Christians expect any less persecution than our Lord? In the end, however, we know who the Victorious will be...and every knee shall bow.
