What do you think of Pat Robertson's comments yesterday about God telling him there would be an attack on America this year? I am a Christian and I don't know what to think. He really may hear from God, but then again he may just be trying to make himself even more famous then he already is. I dont know what to think of him. He seems to be a good Christian and all....but...something does not seem right about this guy.

I would especially like to hear back from other Christians. And please, no Christian bashing from other people.

When I read your question one thing popped into my mind. Christ in Mark 13 was giving signs of the end of the dispensation. Of coarse attacks on the United States are not necessarily signs but Christ said.

Mar 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Take heed.

Plus, no matter what you think of Pat you must admit he loves God and serves Him.

I know from personal experience sometimes I feel led to do something. I will pray about it and seek God's confirmation. But it comes down to my decision. I have great faith but it takes great courage to act upon something you feel led to do.

The best advice is take heed.

Friend, I am a Christian, I don't follow Pat Robertson one bit nor do I follow Benny Hinn, Yes I do believe somewhere down the road God will have to shake America, To prepare her for when Israel in the Great tribulation will flee into the wildeness, It could be this year or next year. But these TV preachers, Do Not represent the True body Of Christ. How do I know, I have been to many of them back in the early 1970's, I have been to H. Richard Hall, Rex Humbard, The person that took over A.A. ALLEN tent, I think his name is Don Stewart, I have been to W.V. Grant Sr. meetings, The Hart Brothers, & 98% of the service was taking up money, Freind, I have been a born again Christian since 1970, & I have seen them all,

Well, I THINK the same thing, based on the current mood in America it seems like a good time to hit us again. I would even go a step further and say Houston is the most likely target.

That is just an educated guess, but if it happens I would appreciate you sending money for my prophetic power. I will be sure to point it out after the fact. Pat has a really good chance of something happening that he can claim was what God told him about so he isn't that out on a limb.

And yes something isn't right with him. He keeps getting more out there which just gives us atheists more material. I personally hope he keeps going just for the entertainment value.

I don't want to come across as bashing this guy, but I have been around a long time and have seen his actions and the actions of those like him, and I would totally ignore anything he has to say. First of all if he is right, what difference is it going to make? There is nothing anyone can do about it, that they are not already doing. It is too vague a prediction to give any direction, and since there are attacks all the time, he can always justify what he has said, one way or another. Secondly he has a history of being wrong. In the Bible a prophet only has to be wrong once and then he is discredited and clasified as a false prophet. Third the Bible teaches that revelation from God has ended. Trust the Bible and believe in God. Follow Jesus not a man.

I'm a Christian but I have never been a big Pat Robertson fan. I agree also, that he makes me uncomfortable. Some of his comments, I believe to be a little off the mark and I didn't care for his run for the presidency.

I am a Christian.

I think he is not telling the truth. He has so many things he says come out not to be true. God says if one prophecy from a prophet fails then it is all false and not from him. Scripture below:

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Pat Robertson and his ilk are why so many people are turned off by modern day Christians. He's an inflammatory shyster whose words and actions do not reflect the ideals of Christ and his teachings.

I think the FBI should detain Robertson and ply him for a few weeks on end why and when there's another imminent attack. That's just such a reckless thing to say, but I guess that equates ratings and attention for this hack.

Pat's a bit of a nut job, I'm afraid. He's enjoyed the adulation and support of a large number of people for so long that it's had a deleterious effect on his thinking. The attention of a large group of adoring followers has tended to lead him to think that he's much more than just the old guy he is. He believes that he's close to God and the God talks to him. What talks to him is a sort of megalomania.

Pat talks a lot about God, but the God he is talking about seems very judgmental.

He does not sound at all like the God Jesus was trying to tell us about in parables like the story of the prodigal son. The God Jesus was talking about in this parable was unconditionally loving and never judged his child in any way.

Pat may think that he is hearing from God but it is almost certainly not the same God Jesus was talking about. I suspect that he is hearing from a God that he created in his own image and likeness, rather than the other way around.

Perhaps that's why people like Pat always try to put a spin on the prodigal parable and pretend that it is a story about forgiveness.

They just can't stand the idea of a God that expects them to love everyone all of the time like Jesus asked us to do.

love and blessings Don

Pat is nuts. Plain and simple. I am not a Christian, but I do know Baptists and Pentecostals, and they all insist that he has gone "over the edge" with his comments and predictions. Certainly, none of them agreed with his stance that America should kill President Chavez ("thou shalt not kill"). And this latest is just another in a long line of nutty things said by this man ... who can forget his claim to do a 2,000 leg press in the gym. What is next? Bench pressing army tanks to get in shape for the holy war?
