You see a few questions on here along the lines of "OK evolutionists / big bangers, answer this...". I assume these are posted by religious people, trying to posit that if "we" are wrong, "they" must be right..

So my question.
How does disproving evolution / big bang prove god?

Isn't it like pointing at a house, and saying "It's not a car, so it must be an elephant"?

PLEASE don't reply either "it says so in the bible" or "You will burn in hell". Think about it for a minute.

After viewing "The Da Vinci Code," my friends and I had a question. Maybe someone can answer this: in Catholicism (is this the same exact thing as "Christianity"?) are there TWO Gods? Like, God and his son, Jesus equaling two. TWO of them to pray to, etc? Or is it just Jesus As God in that faith? Just the ONE God. Very curious about this now. Thanks.

And, SERIOUSLY: Although I do NOT wish to be rude in any way, I would appreciate just the basic few words answer and NOT any preaching, teaching, proselytyzing, evangelizing, propagandizing, campaigning, etc. Not interested in any of that in any way. Thank you, again.

And why? Is it just because you were raised that way or are there compelling reasons? I'm a Protestant but I'm "looking" for other denominations that are more true to the Bible (than the Episcopal or Methodist churches with which I am now affiliated). Where should I be searching? What denomination are you?

I'm in a bible study and this question came up; If someone gives their life to God, and then a couple years later denounces His name, do they go to Heaven in the end?

The final reward, ressurection or heaven, do you believe buddists, hindus , jews and moslems will be there? What about those who lived and died before Jesus? If you are Catholic what about Mormons, baptists, etc. Protestants/evangelicals what about Catholics?

The earth formed there was obviously something that helped form it. I know you will say the big bang theory and stuff like that but what produced the 1st atom in the world to allow all of this to happen? I dont think god formed anything but I think he exist because there had to be someone to creat the 1st neccasary element in this world to form everything else. Explain how you could say he doesnt exist now.

Mark 9:1 (NIV) And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."

Everybody who heard that is dead by now, yet no Kingdom of God came.

So did our Savior and Son of God lie to us?

Mark 10:18

Why does the bible contradict Christianity? I thought Christianity was supposed to be based on the bible, and that Christianity states that Jesus was God, and yet... Mark 10:18 states that he wasn't. Interestingly enough this passage goes on to say that the way into heaven is to obey the commandments of the old testament, not to accept him as their personal whatever...
" 17 As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. “Only God is truly good. 19 But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone... NLT

I know that some people are religius and have pre maritial physical relations. If that is you do you feel it is okay and acceptable. I am in a situation where I choose to either continue having a relations with my boyfriend or follow my religion. My religion calls for celibacy for unmarried couples for up to 1 yr only. My bf tells me that he is not able to do this. Should I conceal our physical relationship?

a book about it that was written by a fellow named Billy Joe Bob Yokum. Now this fellow is from the deep south and had some really great ideas about who had won the war and I kinda went along with what he said about the south actually winning and all, but then some of my friends told me that I should read more books about the subject in order to get a true perspective about what really happened. Well it had never occured to me to do that since old Billy Joe Bob and I are both from the South and have a tendency to think along the same lines, but I went along with their suggestion and lo and behold I found that the north had actually won that war and that old Billy Joe Bob Yokum was basing his conclusions on what he wanted them to be instead of what had actually happened.

This year I want to learn about Christianity but don't know where to start, so would you all suggest that I read just the bible, or should I read other things also in order to get at the truth?
