Is it because the Bible says that the Bible is a true book, and that it says this right there in the Bible, so the Bible must be the truth?

i ask as an atheist.
but why is it that atheists and christians are the most unexcepting of the beliefs of others?
atheists are suppose to be open minded. but there seems to be an atheist crusade going on. everyone should be free to believe what they want. those who fanaticaly attack others beliefs as though they know with 100% certainty the truth are as bad as the religious types that do the same.

I'm saying I have seen a lot of post recently about the OT God, which from what I can see can be called the death God, because he can't help but kill people or order people to kill. the OT god is one of the most vicious characters in all of literature, somehow the religious faithful try to defend it by saying, "Well those people were evil and didn't listen to God," which is a pathetic answer, but seem to forget these quotes..... "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things" (Isa 45:7 KJV) -- "The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil" (Prov 16:4 KJV) -- "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?" (Amos 3:6 KJV).

So if it is God creating this evil, how can they make excuses? Is God just PO'D? OR is this an allegory and is quite unworthy to think of a God in this manner? Man he is so angry.

When answering the question “Do you have any 2007 predictions (spiritually)? The good & pretty and the bad & ugly” I wrote down with little thought:

“I will have accomplished a full physical transformation before the middle of the year. The more time goes on, the more I realize that my animal spirit and I are one and the same. My fox spirit and I, we are one. I am my fox. I am fox. The closer I get to this understanding, the closer I come to a p-shift

That is my spiritual prediction.”

What I got in response concerned me a bit, but not that I thought that it was true, but that the asker of the question honestly thought this.

“I'm concerned about the Philosopher. You can't become one spirit with a fox. A demon is tricking you. I predict that you will have a true spiritual awakening, renewed in spirit with God.”

I worry about these people because their religion has clouded their thoughts beyond help.

How can you see the earth and the universe, so perfectly placed so that it doesn't all crash together and create a huge mess, and not believe SOMETHING or SOMEONE other than a giant explosion put it there? How can you see how magnificently we have evolved in our studies in science, math, literature, art, and so many other areas and not believe that something made that happen? I am not asking if you believe in God or not, because there are other theories - including athiesm - which i completely respect, but how can you see these things and not believe that there is something placing it there for a reason?

I have been a Wiccan for five years, and had most of my tools, the other's my fiance had, but due to a recent incident in which my sister's house caught on fire (we all lived together) I have lost all of my tools and other things... I, my best friend Nova, my fiance Tubbs, and my father-like-friend Miles (who past away after the fire) all believe homemade tools generate my power and are generally better, but I have no clue where to start, does anyone know how to or knows a link to make the following items: a sword, athame, white-handled knife, an altar, chalices, candles, a wand, censer, incense, a pentacle, cauldron, broom (besom) , robes, cords, and a bell... I know that that is quite a bit, but it would really help if you could tell me one or more if you know how to make them... or any other tools I might have left out...

This question is addressed to all of those who would attempt to persuade others to their way of thinking instead of just loving one another.

Our world is dying and visionaries from every walk of life including every religion and tribe of the world for centuries have foreseen the possible end of our world if we cannot unite and feel love for one another above our petty individual beliefs.

Why is this not more important to you than squabbling over details of who is a God or what they stand for. This information is particular to each person. It is special in your heart, but it does not have to mean the same thing to everyone else in the world as it does to one person. This is not realistic. Nobody feels exactly the same about anything. Our views vary according to our experiences. Why are you not capable of being silent and focussing on similarities and just sharing love rather than hurting others and tearing our world apart with your differences?

Once upon a time, some ‘very clever’ scientists got together to ‘decide’ how the universe began. They already ‘knew’ that the idea of a Supernatural Creator, whom they could not see, feel, hear or touch was a preposterous fairy story which insulted their intelligence.
One of the the many problems that arose in their discussions, was that 96% of the universe had apparently gone missing. They agreed this was puzzling. Then one bright spark had a brainwave; “cold, dark matter,” what’s that? the others asked. “It’s the missing part of the universe” he exclaimed, “we can’t see it, touch it, hear it or feel it and we don’t know what it is made of, but we know it’s there.” “Wow! we’ve cracked it,” Said the others, “It’s amazing what ‘science’ can achieve through logical reasoning.” “Let’s sock it to the public."

We are both guys and are both married. Though we are best friends I tend to be more like a big brother to him. I'm 35 and he's 30. I am the oldest of 5 male children and he is the youngest of 3 male children in each of our families, respectively. Because of this dynamic we both naturally tend to gravitate toward that role within our friendship as well. We have both been there for each other many times and I have a great time when we hang out but many of his lifestyle choices don't make sense with what he claims to stand for. This upsets me because it makes him seem fake, not just to me but others as well. I find myself defending him more than I'd like to admit. He has several other friends that he likes to hang with. (My wife and 3 sons keep me busy-he has no children and he is separated from his wife). I'm just concerned because they aid him in his poor lifestyle choices. Of course, he justifies his choices, but I think he simply ignores doing what he knows is right. Keep or move on?

From committing adultry to murder, do you think one sin is more forgivable than the other. Christians are born and re-born every day, being forgiven by God for sins committed. Is there any one sin you feel will keep one's soul out of the pearly gates of Heaven?

Is a murderer, a mass murderer at that, could go to heaven? Can people who start wars, cause death by famine, or by any other means - can they get into heaven if they ask and are forgiven by God?

Same goes for a rapist, child molestor, cannibal, etc...

Is punishement by law via death not murder? Is the very essence of our society's legal structure not sin at best?

Is it right to punish sin with sin?

I'm tired of us Christians mis-pronouncing the names of God and His prophets and followers. I think we've gone way too far from our Jewish heritage. I'm tired of just "God." What ever happened to "Jehovah Adonai" or "Elohim"? Why do we pronounce King Saul as "Sol" instead of the original "Sa 'ul"?

I'm studying Greek but am ignorant of Hebrew. Does anyone know of any English or Tagalog (Filipino/Pilipino) version that keeps the original names? Are there any rules in Hebrew of how to correctly pronounce names?
