I believe the Bible is God's word, not simply because it says it is. I believe it because there is external evidence to prove it. I'll give you some examples:
Archeological Evidence: Pontiias Pilate, the Roman prefect who ultimately gave the order to execute Jesus, was dismissed for ages as a myth. It just so happens that archeologists have recently found evidence of his existence. That's just one situation. There's growing belief that Noah's Arc is resting pretty much where the Bible says it did.
Science/Astronomy:
- The Mosaic law, the law God gave to the Israelites contains laws for sanitation that are recognized to this day
- During a time when people believed the earth was flat as a pancake, when people though it rested on Atlas's shoulders while he stood on top of a giant turtle which stood on top of a giant elephant ... Job 26:7 speaks of God "hanging the earth upon nothing". Isaiah 40:22 says that "there is one that is dwelling above the CIRCLE of the earth. " This was before space exploration etc. How would they know these things, so vastly against the grain of belief in their day, unless they had divine inspiration?

For those who actually take the time to sit down and read and study the Bible they find out alot they didn't know before.
It is a book of prophecy that has been vindicated by secular history.
Although not a science book, where it does touch on science it is completely accurate.
It's counsel for family life as well as being able to get along with others is tried and true.
For me though.........the Prophecy is one of the main things that opened my eyes very wide.
For instance the one to free the Jews from Babylon was named 200 years before he was born.
And the details to how Cyrus would be able to get into Babylon is included in the Bible:
"the One saying to the watery deep, ‘Be evaporated; and all your rivers I shall dry up’; 28 the One saying of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd, and all that I delight in he will completely carry out’; even in [my] saying of Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’ and of the temple, ‘You will have your foundation laid.’”" -Isaiah 44:27-28
In Isaiah 45:1-3 it also included that the two leave doors would "not be shut" The night of October 5/6 539 BCE found a huge party were the king was drunk and .....they were so arrogant the doors to the city didn't get shut.
Cyrus diverted the river so that the soldiers of Media and Persia could simply wade across and walk right in. Babylon fell in the one night. Hence, God said that the waters would be "evaporated".
There are several others as well!

The bible is my own personal truth. I find it to be a work of over 400 authors none of whom contradict themselves, instead they all seem to support each other. I feel it is the oral history of mans walk with God, not the history of the earth or the dinosaurs, or why we have DNA. It is as simple as that. Are there mysteries in the bible, absolutely. If we had all the answers, why would we need math or science. You must have Faith and the Bible gives me that.

Oh, yes. Most definitely the Bible is the Word of God. Man isn't smart enough to write it. It said the earth was a circle, before man knew it was round. It said Israel would fly home on airplanes before airplanes were invented. There are at least 2 layers to Bible Scripture. The only book I know that can come alive to you.

Nope, the Bible is all lies. Some person made it up just to keep people in line. Think about it. If the Bible wasn't real, there would be no "heaven" and "hell" to believers in the Bible. And without "heaven" and "hell" there would be no consequences and no limits. Without none of them there would be chaos and havoc and we prbly wouldn't be where we are today. So to put it simply religions sets limits and consequences on everything and I guess that was what that person had in mind and also for something for people to live by and for. It's all bullshit.

I know it is true because I was born again by the Spirit of God and faith in Jesus Christ before I knew it was possible. Only a year later did I read about what happened to me in the Bible, John's Gospel, Chapter 3, where Jesus describes this truth to a religious leader of the Pharisees. I put the Word of God into practice every day - and I have found it to be completely reliable.

**The Bible itself says it is from God, mankind’s Creator
2 Tim. 3:16, 17: “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.” Rev. 1:1; 2 Sam. 23:1, 2; Isa. 22:15
**Bible prophecy explains the meaning of world conditions
Many world leaders acknowledge that mankind is on the brink of disaster. The Bible foretold these conditions long ago; it explains their meaning and what the outcome will be. (2 Tim. 3:1-5; Luke 21:25-31) It tells what we must do in order to survive the impending world destruction, with the opportunity to gain eternal life under righteous conditions here on earth.—Zeph. 2:3; John 17:3; Ps. 37:10, 11, 29.
**The Bible enables us to understand the purpose of life
It answers such questions as: Where did life come from? (Acts 17:24-26) Why are we here? Is it just to live a few years, get what we can out of life, and then die?—Gen. 1:27, 28; Rom. 5:12; John 17:3; Ps. 37:11; Ps. 40:8.
**The Bible shows how we can have the very things that lovers of righteousness desire most
-It tells us where to find wholesome associates who truly love one another (John 13:35), what can give assurance that we will have sufficient food for ourselves and our families (Matt. 6:31-33; Prov. 19:15; Eph. 4:28), how we can be happy in spite of difficult conditions that surround us.—Ps. 1:1, 2; 34:8; Luke 11:28; Acts 20:35.
-It explains that God’s Kingdom, his government, will remove the present wicked system (Dan. 2:44), and under its rule mankind will be able to enjoy perfect health and eternal life.—Rev. 21:3, 4; compare Isaiah 33:24.
Surely a book that claims to be from God, that explains both the meaning of world conditions and the purpose of life, and that shows how our problems will be solved is worthy of consideration.

We know for a fact that it is not. The Genesis tales of the creation of the earth, the creation of life, and the flood are all known to have no relation to truth. There are hundreds of other errors as well.
