From committing adultry to murder, do you think one sin is more forgivable than the other. Christians are born and re-born every day, being forgiven by God for sins committed. Is there any one sin you feel will keep one's soul out of the pearly gates of Heaven?

Is a murderer, a mass murderer at that, could go to heaven? Can people who start wars, cause death by famine, or by any other means - can they get into heaven if they ask and are forgiven by God?

Same goes for a rapist, child molestor, cannibal, etc...

Is punishement by law via death not murder? Is the very essence of our society's legal structure not sin at best?

Is it right to punish sin with sin?

No sin is worse than the other in God's eyes. Killing someone and cursing are the same to him. It is the human race that states which are worse in our own eyes. Many say that Ted Bundy repented his sins and asked God to come in his heart and save him right before he died. If that is true and he truly meant it, then he will be in heaven when I get there. It doesn't seam fair, but God is not fair, he is just.

Christ died for ALL sin. Big or small, sin is sin. Disobedience is sin. It also says in the Bible that God has established the Kings and Kingdoms, and the laws, and authorities on this earth, and that we are to obey the laws unless of course they go against His commands.
Romans 13:1 Let every person be loyally subject to the governing(civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God [by His permission, His sanction], and those that exist by God's appointment.
13:2 Therefor he who resists and sets himself up against the authorities resists what God has appointed and arranged [in divine order]. And those who resist will bring down divine judgment upon themselves [receiving the penalty due them].
13:3 For civil authorities are not a terror to [people of] good conduct, but to [those of] bad behavior. Would you have no dread of him who is in authority? Then do what is right and you will receive approval and commendation..

This is just a small example given from the Amplified Version, but there are many more throughout the Old and New testaments.
We are small, and God is big. There is a bigger picture in God's purpose and plans that we cant see. All of what we know is intertwined into a greater plan unknown to us.
God still rules the earth, even though it may seem like the devil reigns, and is in control. God Is.

All sin is the same in God's eyes. In the eyes of man, there are degrees.
Anyone can be forgiven, not all will. Due to their ignorance, arrogance they will not ask, nor receive what is so freely given by God, the Father.
It is not right to punish sin with sin, the death penalty is wrong, in my opinion.

no, all sin is sin in the eyes of god. there is scripture that refers to this. so ppl who judge others harshly for their sins are as guilty as those who sins they are judging. a liar is no worse then a rapist. i always find it ironic that ppl will scream about gay's and their sins but can't seem to see that their sin of judgment is exactly the same. one thing ppl need to do first before condeming others is look at their own lives do they lie, do they lust after someone other than their spouse, do they cheat or steal etc. if they do then they need to worry more about how they are sinning against god rather than how someone else is. as for forgiveness...yes a murderer can ask for forgiveness at the last moment and god will grant it...but only god can judge whether or not their repentence was real...also don't forget god will judge and although a murder can be forgiven he will not be able to escape punishment for the sins he committed. none of us will. its clear in the bible that god will judge all according to their sins and they will be held accountable. so the idea of living a horrible life hurting others then confessing at the last moment and getting off scott free is not the reality. the whole point is to live your life to honor god and to treat your fellow man with respect and love...now no one is perfect so we will make mistakes and we will sin. the thing is its the punishment will depend on the heart of the sinner and god and only him alone can judge the heart and sinner.

If you read the Bible, you'll see that it sees all sins as the same. All are just as damning. God requires absolute perfection. You need just ONE sin to be thrown to Hell.

One unconfessed sin, that is. To go to Heaven, God is just as merciful as He is just. If you repent, no matter what sin it is, you're forgiven for life. Real repentance is saying sorry and trying never to to do it again. You have to totally abhor your sin enough to want to get away from it as possible. You won't be saved from the consequences but you will be forgiven in God's sight.

Jesus spoke of degree of sin in John 19:11 "You (Pilate) would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; therefore he who delivered Me up to you (the high priest Caiaphas) has the GREATER SIN."

Therefore, the answer is Yes, there are degrees of sin. This is obvious even without the above reference, as mass murder is plainly much more evil and destructive than stealing a candy bar.

There are different consequences to every sin, but a sin is a sin. They're all wrong. They're all forgivable by God, however, the bible even says even after forgiveness, no sin goes unpunished.

Sin is sin.

There is no sin that is worse than another. They are equal in God's eyes.

Your question about punishment is moot.... ultimately sin is punished by eternal separation from God. God ordains laws by which we must live. Breaking those laws have well defined consequences. Punishment is not sin if ordained by God.
