I am an expert in the Christian religion because I have practiced and studied it for 50 years.

Religion is not the same as a relationship with God. Remember that God tells us the differences in his word. There may be experts on religion and still not know God. The relationship one has with the Lord is what counts. However, when you are in love with God and give your life to him, you seek after him. He reveals more and more of himslef to you when he knows that you are for real. Those spending their lives with an intimate relstionship of the Lord become quite close to him.

I consider myself fairly expert having come through a philosophy degree and spent some considerable time studying the subject and have come to the conclusion that there is no god.

I consider myself a religious expert because I study god. I don't believe in him, but I study him none the less.
I still have so much to learn though, but I'm pretty confident that god does not exist

there is no such thing as a religious expert--that is, there is no expert regarding the existence of god because it's all guesswork.

i am not an expert in religion either
however
i have learned enough about my own faith to feel confident in answering questions about it
and have been respectful enough to learn about other faiths before i would attempt to answer questions on them
