well, there was an interesting collective consciousness to the Dead scene, enhanced, of course, with the ingestion of hallucinogens. the shows certainly did have an atavistic tribal dimension to them, a shared psi experience.
PS. never was a devoted Deadhead but i did catch the vibe.
