After viewing "The Da Vinci Code," my friends and I had a question. Maybe someone can answer this: in Catholicism (is this the same exact thing as "Christianity"?) are there TWO Gods? Like, God and his son, Jesus equaling two. TWO of them to pray to, etc? Or is it just Jesus As God in that faith? Just the ONE God. Very curious about this now. Thanks.

And, SERIOUSLY: Although I do NOT wish to be rude in any way, I would appreciate just the basic few words answer and NOT any preaching, teaching, proselytyzing, evangelizing, propagandizing, campaigning, etc. Not interested in any of that in any way. Thank you, again.

Actually, its a trinity -- God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

All three are one. You pray to God through the Holy Spirit, under the authority of the Son.

Its like an apple -- seeds, skin, and flesh. Different aspects of the same one.

It gets much deeper though...

Actually there are many differences between Catholicism and Christianity. But there is only one God in both religions. God and Jesus are the same being. The Holy trinity is The Son (Jesus) The Father (God) And the Holy Spirt There are 3 parts but its the same God. Think of it as a hard boild Egg, The Shell is God the Egg White is Jesus and the Yoke is the Holy Spirt three seperate parts but all the same Egg.

As much as most Christians want to adopt the belief that has been ingrained in their heads that their is only one God, you are right - there are multiple. Their is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Ghost. They are "one" in purpose, but they are not one being any more than you and your friends are one being. Some also erroneously believe that they are only God when all three come together and unite their powers - like the cartoon Voltron or something (good cartoon by the way) but this is not true. Jesus taught during his mortal life, worship just one God - God the Father.

Christianity is not the same as Catholicism...there are many differences in beliefs between Catholics and Christians. Some Catholics do not even believe that other people from other denominations will be saved (a lot of religions also have this belief).

There are NOT two Gods in Christianity. Christians believe in the Trinity. No other faith which promotes one God also proclaims there are three who are God. This apparent paradox does not mean there are "three gods in one" but that one God exists as three persons--coequal, coinfinite and coeternal--all three possessing the same essential nature (Psalms 110:1; John 10:30)

The Trinity defines the unity of God as having one divine nature with specific and describable attributes. Howeer, each member of the Godhead--God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit--is a separate person who possesses these attributes individually (Matt 28:19. No one member of the Trinity, in His essential being, is subordinate to another member.

Each person of the Godhead has a purpose related to the eternal will and plan of God. The Scripture ascribes to each person distinct roles not jointly shared by the Trinity. The Father is the planner, the source of all things. The Son is the agent through whom the Father's plan is enacted. The Holy Spirit is the revealer and empowers the plan in our lives.

Each Member of the Godhead has:
Sovereignty, Omniscience, Omnipotence, Righteousness, Justice, Omnipresence, Love, Immutability, Eternal live and Veracity.

One of the best illustrations of the Trinity is comparing it to the 3 different properties which compose light.

Light is one substance, but it is composed of three different properties: actinic, luminiferous, and calorific

(1) Actinic light is light of short wavelengths that produces photochemical effects. Actinic light is neither seen nor felt, a perfect illustration of God the Father.

(2) Luminiferous light is light produced by the emission of light occurring at a temperature below that of incandescent bodies. Luminiferous is both seen and felt, a perfect illustration of God the Son.

(3) Calorific light is light converted into heat. Calorific is not seen but felt, a perfect illustration of God the Holy Spirit.

(4) Therefore, the composition of light is analogous to the three persons in the Godhead who are one. Light is one with three properties. God is one in essence but three persons .

Hope this helps!!

There's only 1 God but he's in in three persons- The father, son, and Holy spirit. It's hard to understand why they're not all differnet but think of it like this: There are three parts of and egg- The hard outside shell, They white part and the yolk. Even though there are three parts- no matter which part you're looking at it's still an egg. That's why we're not worshiping more than 1 God- b/c even though there are three parts they are all the same in the end.

The answer is simple and it has always been simple. There is NO GOD. This will end the useless debating, confusion and questions that even the most ardent believer can never fully answer or understand. No one can give you a definitive answer on this. Religion is nothing more than a comic book gone completely out of control. Once you understand this, all your questions will be answered and many of you can dedicate your lives to the sciences and other solutions to the real problems we already have.

To answer your first question, to be a Christian you must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from your sins. To answer your second question, there is definitely only one God- in three persons....God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit....
