An atheist is like a lobster in a water tank......in a seafood restaurant. They are content with being in the tank, eating & living, until the big hand comes down, swoops them up!, and throws them onto the fire.

In my family we always make two. One spiritual and one personal.

Mine are to attend First Friday Adoration at least once this year (spiritual) and to excercise more and drop 20 pounds by Dec.

What about you?

Surely by not reading their (professed) literature via the 'primary' languages, those who are from the first world are experiencing a second-hand 'reading' of the subtleties of their (supposed) Good Book & 'Word' needlessly?

Is it laziness? Arrogance?

Can a westerner who possesses the free time & resources that can make possible 'primary reading' of the 'corpus' really say any thing about the deeper import of the content & not be effectively a parrot of 'hearsay'?

Isn't it a bit 'convenient' that some Christians counter that such a serious commitment of time, money, effort is 'not that important'?

I have wrestled with my beliefs about religion and God. I finally realized if I had to be classified as something I would be an Agnostic-humanist.

Basically I believe that there must be something greater than me, or greater than humans, in the universe. I also believe that I am not wise enough to know what or who that thing is. That is what makes me agnostic.

I also believe that humans have the power and the responsibilty to make this world a better place for all of us and our future generations. Perhaps ensuring that the human race is still alive and flourishing at a time when more knowledge can be gained. I wish there was a place where people of every race, creed, belief, and known religion could come together and celebrate our human side and the goodness of man. That is why I consider myself a Humanist.

What do you believe and does anyone believe what I believe?

I have a question for Mormons only: I have been keeping a record of the false prophecies by both Joseph Smith & Brigham Young. My question is, "If your religious leaders have false prophecies, how do you justify still following them?"
I mean this question with all due respect, I am curious if there is some perspective you have here that would help me understand you better.

i've seen several questions about people asking for users on here to pray for them. the users then proceed to write out a prayer to lord for that person in their reply. so i'm wondering if he sits there and reads the prayers off YA, and forums, message boards, etc. or does he prefer them in the form of email like in bruce almighty?

When it comes to fossils you can say that it was created by Satan .But it is not said so in bible. But it is clearly explained in Prastafarianism.they have scientific graphs also.
Well both are not true but Prstafarianism is more sensible than Christianity.

So I can take money from all you cow brains worshiping your false idol and use it to buy myself a gulfsteam. Along with various other expensive things. I really want to know, because it seems like the easist way to make money, all you have to do is lie to a room full of people once a week. sounds pretty sweet.

For example: Many claim to "know god personally". The common definition of "personally" would mean that you have met god, seen him and spoken with him (not figuratively but physically). I'm sure they have not done this. Why then do they not instead say something like "I feel like I know god because of my experience."

would Hitler - who said he was doing God's will and invoked the antisemtic language of the Catholic church to gain support - have been able to come to power?

Remember, Hitler rose up in a democratic nation and without popular support would have never been anything more than a failed artist.

Who wouldn't want to leave all that behind, get rid of it and just move out to the middle of no where to be among nature and the beauty of the world without having to worry about hell or heaven? Just live out the rest of your pathetic, meaningless excistance in peace and harmony of nature.

Give up all your desires. Giving up desires means give up on all kinds of feelings. When you don't feel any thing, that means you don't want to do any thing and just concerntrate your mind towards emptyness which is towards god. Then how do we build our karma? If we are just going to sit there and not do any thing then what is the purpose of life? I thought you need to build your karma, and the only way you build that is by doing things every day and that means having desires and haveing feelings? Isn't that vicious circle? what is right thing do? Cann't human achieve that oneness with god without giving up desires?

What if there is no one to interpret? If someone "fakes it" for instance, then have they been filled with the Holy Spirit? Or if they really are speaking another language ("God's language" or ancient one), but no one to interpret, will they be considered as not having been filled? Please explain so that we may all be a little more educated about your faith.
