God didnt choose the most awful place on the face of the earth. He is the Almighty. He knew that that was the right place for them. And it wasnt awful. If you read the bible it says that the promised land was filled with blessings of rich and fertile soils.it was a land of mountains and valleys,a land watered by rain.and God would always watch over them.So what makes you think that the promised land was an awful place?
