I have been on here a lot today, reading about the joys of "Christ in Christmas", or why people are "taking the Christ out of Christmas". Do people not realize that Christmas as we know it started as a Pagan winter holiday? And for the people who say it's "Christ's Birthday", have they never read the bible? While I don't raise sheep, I've always been told that they are hearded in the spring, not the dead of winter, and according to the historians who have studied the bible say "Jesus Christ" was born in the spring. When else would the shepards have been hearding their flocks like they were supposed to have been doing when Christ was born? When the Catholic church first began and they were trying to convert Pagans to Christianity they took over the Pagan holidays to make the conversion easier and so there would be less fighting the inevitable. Yule became Christmas Ostara became Easter and so on. *sigh* Why do people not work to understand where their traditions and rituals come from?

"We are living in a world in which millions of Christians hope to soon be raptured into the stratosphere by Jesus so that they can safely enjoy a sacred genocide that will inaugurate the end of human history."

Jesus is the outshining of God as predicted in the bible

Have you heard the Christmas carols-Glory to God in the highest

people argue religion-Jesus isnt a religion-Rabbi Schneerson of the orthodox who recently died and its claimed he is the Messiah-yet the Jewish scriptures prove that wrong

Micah 5:1&2 "Bethlehem though thou art small amongst the cities of Israel, out of thee shalt come forth the one from eternity."
Jesus was born there the other Rabbi was born in Europle-yet today Bethlehem is given to the Arabs -so if the Messiah came today Israel would have an arab Messiah!

Mohamad's light came from an angel-that told him to marry a little girl-at 6 years old and to pedophile her -abusing a child-which Islam says didnt happen till she was 9 years old-with modern science girls mature faster today-so in that day at 9 years old she was about a 6 year old in maturityToday.
Mohamad calls Jesus a liar -when He says He will go to the cross for the joy set before him.
Glory?

Did God change his mind as to how to worship him?

1. You shall have no God's before me
2. You shall not make for yourself a graven image
3.You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
4. Remember the Sabath day to keep it holy
5.Honor your father and mother
6. You shall not murder
7. You shall not commit adultery
8.You shall not steal
9. You shall not lie
10. You shall not covet
and if you break these that you are subject to judgement
the bible says no murderer , no liar, no Idolater#2, no thief, no adulterer will ever enter heaven.
also did you know that is why Jesus died on the cross so that if you repent and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life you can be free of the punishment. ??????
Whether you believe in him or not you WILL stand before him on the day of judgement and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Why not do it know??? instead of when it is too. late.?

What is the best advice you could give to a new Christian?

2006-12-25 14:04:27 · 42 answers · asked by aingelic1 3

Seeing other Christian's answers on the meaning of the flood Noah was disturbing to think they would believe that they might escape tribulation and persecution, yes, even being put to death for the cause of Christ. I mean, it's going to be pretty rough if you can't buy or sell without the mark of the beast and if men take you up before the councils (justice systems) and you suffer for His name's sake. I mean, it would be nice if we didn't have to face persecution but I can't see as how the Lord is coming until all that He said would come to pass actually does. So, where does this no-suffering doctrine come from?

I don't believe in the bible it said God yelled and said mean things to anyone whom had different belief's, of course he just showed them what he could do and then they felt not worthy.

Although there are many verses in Quran that encourage Muslim to love and obey their parents, there is one verse [Al Tawba 9:23] that orders Muslims not to give any protection for their fathers or brothers in case they love infidelity above Faith.

The same verse also threatens any Muslim who try to do that by being accounted as infidel himself.

For some reason I feel that giving protection for my father and my brothers should be a part of being a human. Even if they don't believe in what I believe in I still should give them respect and protect them.

Does anyone agree with me?

It's all about getting into heaven. Everything revolves around that fact. You do good only so you can get into heaven. You pray to god only so you can get into heaven. You attend a sermon so that you will get into heaven. Aren't these religions breeders of selfishness?

To all believers, whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Indian, Norse, Greek, pagan, or any others:

Peace on earth, good will from man to men. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year, however you celebrate it. We may have our differences, but we are all one family. I hope we can discuss our differences as brothers, rather than foes.

nambla, militant gays and the french!

So what, if some of us believe that homosexuality doesn't necessarily merit a garish parade?

I'm glad most of us believe molesting children is one of the most despicable, malevolent things a human being could do!

Tolerance of homosexuality does not mean that we have to endorse it!

Homosexuals are the richest, and most influential bloc in the US!

why do people esp. christians constantly feel they have to "talk god up" or stick up for god ? if god is all knowing and all powerful then god can stick up for itself right? if you believe god cannot then you must believe your god is imperfect and what sort of a god needs help from mortal beings? an IMPERFECT God, correct? god doesn't need a pr firm, why can't people just worship and be quiet about it, you all don't want us up in heaven with you anyway us "heathens" and if you are so good why would you brag about you are going to heaven and we are not? is that behavior WORTHY of heaven? sounds more like one of the 7 deadly sins to me... pride (vanity, narcissism),
and if you do not like us are you not guilty of the sin of wrath?(anger, hatred, prejudice, discrimination) just cause you believe in jesus does that excuse bad behavior on your part> Kinda like why you go to church on Sunday after being sinful, prideful, greedy, prejudiced etc all week long?

please put in my question 3 below-what is Christmas to you-only 2 answers so far-one a person that rejects Jesus period-the other is a Jewish lady who says you cant believe in the Jewish Messiah Jesus and still be Jewish=rediculous-you cant be truely Jewish and reject Isaiah's prophecies that prove Jesus is our messiah.

on this question do you have the prince of Peace inner peace as predicted in Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us a child will be born, a SON is given, and he will be the wonderful counselor, the almighty God, the prince of peace."
some say the bible is tampered with-yet my Jewish people who as predicted would despise and reject our Messiah and His inner peace-Isaiah 52:13-53:12 "He will be exalted. First he will be marred more than any man." He will be despised and REJECTED.. He will lay down his life to make atonement for our sins.

Do you have him-therefore do you have his perfect inner peace of the prince of Peace, as predicted returning to reign

It has been said that if you truly are sorry for what you did and you ask forgiveness then God will forgive you. Technically you could wait all the way to your death bed to repent right? So I ask you if I do the following...

Sleep with my sister
Eat the neighbors cat
Kill my friends grandmother in cold blood
Rape a child
Spread STD's to under privileged families

...but afterwards I realize the error of my ways... Can I just ask for forgiveness and still go to heaven? Lets say I do get into heaven, is the 70 year old lady sitting next to me who went to church 3 times a week, is her soul worth more than mine at that point or any other point prior? As a good faithed Christian lets say I am your neighbor and so is the 70 year old lady, who would you have babysit your children for you when you are gone, if you say the Grandma, I say why not me? If anyone can do whatever the hell they want and just say sorry afterwards then why should anyone try to be good or restrain their desires?

because people have very little self control. if you're going to be a part of something, be the best you can be. I hear all this talk from christians saying "we're not perfect, we make mistakes too". okay, a mistake is misfiguring your checkbook, not giving the cashier enough money to pay for your purchases, or having a car accident. however, when it comes to being mean to people, lack of patience, selfishness, adultery, backstabbing, murder, stealing, and other acts against humanity, those are not mistakes. Those are intentional acts against another person.

I think you know in advance that committing certain acts are against religious teachings. so committing those acts show a blatant disregard for others and whatever god you worship. that's what makes you a hypocrite and that's why people don't take you seriously.

The question is this: do you live up to the true expectations of your religious teachings?
