because people have very little self control. if you're going to be a part of something, be the best you can be. I hear all this talk from christians saying "we're not perfect, we make mistakes too". okay, a mistake is misfiguring your checkbook, not giving the cashier enough money to pay for your purchases, or having a car accident. however, when it comes to being mean to people, lack of patience, selfishness, adultery, backstabbing, murder, stealing, and other acts against humanity, those are not mistakes. Those are intentional acts against another person.
I think you know in advance that committing certain acts are against religious teachings. so committing those acts show a blatant disregard for others and whatever god you worship. that's what makes you a hypocrite and that's why people don't take you seriously.
The question is this: do you live up to the true expectations of your religious teachings?
