If evolution is right then Adam and Eve is wrong. If Adam and Eve is wrong then they never were tempted by a talking snake to eat a cursed apple. If they did not eat the magic cursed apple then there is no original sin. If there is no original sin there is no need for universal redemption. if there is no need for universal salavation then a universal saviour like Christ is not needed. If nobody needs Christ to save them from a nonexistant sin then the whole 3 billion dollar a year industry implodes. They would all be out of work. Do you think they are not going to use everything at their disposal to fight evolution? I think they would take us back to the stone age if they could.

Because it is presented as indisputable fact when there is no concrete evidence. People weaken the requirements for the evidence of Evolution. I took it in high school and I didn't find anything convincing. I thought science was a very precise field, but I was amazed at how little they actually offered. I'm taking Biology again in college because I still want to see what evidence they say they have. I've seen websites referred to by people who believe in Darwinism and none of it proved anything - they just had bones of early birds and such and that in no way shows that that bird came from a reptile or whatever. Also the bones were just fragments, and I don't know how you can prove a chimp/monkey/ape became a human just by showing a jaw or forehead. One of my classmates in high school had a more deformed skull than the ones I've seen on the Evolution sites. But I want to hear from more knowledgeable scientists because websites aren't credible, but I'm not going to believe in Evolution until I see some kind of proof. I believe in gravity because I've seen things fall. I don't believe in Evolution because I've never seen one species become another.

No rational beleivers try to discredit evolution. Science has made great contribution to the advancement of world civilization, but it becomes a problem when some narrow-minded people claim that it is the sole source of human knowledge. Religion, art, philosophy and all other branches of learning... also have their great roles. At this age of human maturity, every individual can embark on any physical, intellectual and spiritual journeys, and then positively contribute their experiences to the well-being of all the human race.

Because if you are a religious person, your believes will be towards the creator of heavens and earth, God. And the evolution doesn't support the existence of God, insted, this was/is a theory made up by scientific trying to figured out the amazing cell and it's parts, discovering the very components of the atomic bomb, and they believe that the world and it's amazing universe is the result of an enormous explosion caused by this very cells.
No logic in this? well that most be because is not only a theory, but was created by imperfect and confused men.
In the other hand, history itself, and archaeological discoveries, support the past existence of places, events, and peoples that the bible mentions, manuscripts, and pillars scrolls prove the existence of Jesus, nations, kings, armies, mentioned in the word of God.
A mere theory, a lie, manipulated by no other than the one whow wants to replace the true with falsehood: SATAN.
That is why Christians defend that true now and forever.
Gabby.

Well to most religions evolution is not the way we came to be as humans so of course thats why, BUT

there are those of us who believe that our world is in a constant state of evolution, we just do not believe that we evolved from nothing into what we have become today.

I think it is just arrogance. They want to believe they are more than animals, and the thought that a chimp and a man have a common ancestor is just too much for them to handle. That's why many are willing to accept so-called "micro-evolution" (intra-species evolution) but not macroevolution (inter-species evolution).

I think that's the real reason.

Usually it is because evolution is at odds with one of their fundamental religious beliefs. Either evolution has merit, or that religious doctrine does not... In faith based beliefs, you have to discredit the information that might make your house of cards fall down around your ears.

Scientific explanations tend to displace spiritual explanations over time. No more God of the North Wind, now just isobars and NOAA's satellite images.

It's because we've got proof of it - and the longer people let it fester, the more will start to realise that they're quick fix answer - "God did it." just doesn't cut it anymore.

To be fair though, if we suddenly found Jesus' body and DNA tested it, and found that he didn't have a biological father, the theologists would jump about and rub it in everyone's faces - and we'd be the one's frantically in denial and trying to prove it wrong.

It's not just "some religions", it's me too. The more I learn about the theory of evolution, the more stupid and false it becomes.

It's garbage we rationalize into truth, because we refuse to acknowledge an almighty God who created us.
