Then why do you not accept the possibility that you might be wrong? The possibility that God doesn't hate gays? The possibility that the universe is greater than what the bible makes it out to be? The possibility that everyone gets into heaven, or that you just die? The possibility that evolution might be true, the possibility that you just need to live life as it is and cherish it?

Jesus told you to be humble, so wouldn't the above statements apply as being humble?

Don't tell me those don't count, because that's what you say about the old testament (excluding the parts used to condemn gays).

1. One guy believes and obeys and does good to receive everlasting life in heaven
2. One guy does good and tells others about it to get the satisfaction of being considered a spiritual, concerned person.
3. One guy sees suffering and wants to help because of some self-concept that desires meaning in this life.
4. One guy sees the suffering of others and does good because of that; he doesn't perceive any reward for it and doesn't see himself as someone special who is helping others.

For the past month we have had things happening in our home that cannot be explained. Voices speaking - one of a girl singing, and a male voice that is threatening. Doors are slamming open and shut, lights are turned on and off, my daughter is terrified to sleep in her room because she says 'someone is talking to me and they talk really loud', she doesn't understand what they are saying - what really bothers me is my daughter is only 3. Dishes are banging around, shadows and a weird smell come out of nowhere - the list goes on. For some reason the male makes itself known when I am alone. I'm afriad to be at home alone, and I really want this to stop. Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be done?

By predetermining the future, prophecy seems to sap the life out of the idea of free will. If prophecy is a prediction of a plan going as it should, does that mean that the plan itself has the potential to fail (thereby allowing free will)? Alternately, if prophecy is an infallible guide to the future, is there any loophole that would allow free will?

Does one stop believing the Adam and Eve story is literally about a couple eating a piece of fruit from a tree and actually a metaphor?

I mean, they ate from a tree called "the knowledge of good and evil." That should be a hint that it's not actually a tree they were eating from, but that they were seeking wisdom.

Sheesh!

"He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon our hearts. And in our despair, against our will, comes wisdom by the awful grace of God."

I The consequences of sin is death. There is no way a person can sin, and not die, that's just the way is.
Sin is that horrible. Suppose God were tojust forgave everyone's sin with a snap of His fingers? Would sin still be so horrible? Where would be the horror in murder, in rape, in greed that causes poverty, in any sin? It would be all gone, wouldn't it? After all, God forgave it all with a snap of His fingers, didn't He?
But the consequences of sin is death, precisely BECAUSE of the horror, the suffering, and the misery sin produces.
That is why Jesus took that horror, that suffering...that misery...upon Himself. If you want to see what sin causes, look at God, hanging there on that cross, beaten beyond recognition...and feel your guilt. It is YOUR sin, and MINE that put that innocent God-man there.
If you do not feel your guilt, there is no chance that you can repent, and if you do not repent, you cannot be forgiven.
THAT is what God did for you on the cross!
