Because the world is blinded to the truth of him.
They are ignorant to what he really is.
Besides, believing in Christ requires a change in a human being. No more fornicating, or lying, or stealing, or homosexuality, or binge drinking . . .
Christ is the one who in their minds destroys their freedom, a slave master.
In reality, they are slaves to their own sin, and that will be their demise.

A baby doesn't make any requests of you. He doesn't condemn you. He is accepted because he is just a baby.

Now Jesus, the Man, he expects things of you. He requires you to make a decision. He isn't helpless. He makes you see your sin. He brings you from the darkness and illuminates you sin with His LIght. One can't remain indifferent with Jesus. He demands a choice. You can't seve to masters...You will either love one and hate the other. He makes them have to take a look at their self, He makes them have to evaluate that face that looks back at them in the mirror and they cannot remain unchanged, no matter what they say.

All these things I say are not to throw stones...for I dealt with this very issue in my life 5 years ago. He has straightened me up. He lives in me. He will do the same for you.

You can't have the manger without the cross.

A baby in a crib is not threat! A risen Savior is a threat! And a High Priest in the Heavenly Temple Officiating on Our behalf before God, is down right scary to most people.

Why is the symbolic significance of the child in the manger born into poverty and deprivation lost on so many Christians?

Actually, the world doesn't accept Christ period. Haven't you noticed how people (especially businesses) avoid saying Christmas? It's getting ridiculous. Then again, I believe that Christmas isn't nearly as important to Christians as Easter. Christmas was actually a pagan holiday, originally.

Common sense denies faith. To anyone who applies reason and common sense to their religion, its falsehoods show up in stark relief. To believe something that is clearly false, means you have to do one hell of a snow job on yourself. That's why you won't see any theists giving any worthwhile arguments about their religion. They use circular logic, and ignore the facts in an attempt to maintain their "suspension of disbelief".

That's why they have such a problem with atheists. Atheists are like the hecklers in the audience. The theists are putting on a play, depending on each other to continue to pretend their god exists. But the atheists are the bad apples, laughing and making cracks from the peanut gallery. And it totally ruins the play for the theists. As an atheist, though, I can't apologize. Your play is harmful. And it's time for the final curtain...
