I question my religious beliefs and faith constantly, but it drives me crazy to have other people question my belief system in a derogatory manner. I value intellectual discourse and welcome intelligent challenges, but I really take issue with people who state things like this: "People who believe in God are dumb..." But I don't deny that I struggle in my beliefs and often wonder if there is some crediblity in some of the accusations that are made about religion and people of faith. Does this make me a hypocrite?

If they will only believe in what they can experience with their limited senses, why do they accept quantum physics, the string theory, etc. As a follower of Jesus the Christ, I see these as science's way of trying to explain heaven.

I don't see any other reference to girl children and even if Adam and Eve had girls, surely their brothers wouldn't have had children with them? So where did the rest of the generations come from?
Apologies in advance if this offends any Bible studiers but it is a valid question and I am genuinely interested in the answer.

so? I am a Muslimah and am confused on this part of women's dress code. I know it says in the Qur'an that Muslim women should dress modestly but I see Muslim women walking around with their faces uncovered. Also since I will be moving to Saudi in 2 years should I cover my face in public there? Thank you. I'm only asking because my ex Pk Muslim friend told me it's a sin not to cover everything except the eyes.

A message of Christmas goodwill has been sent by the Scottish branch of the Muslim association of GB to the Church of Scotland and the Catholic Church
" we wish Christians all the best for the coming days and hope they enjoy their festival as much as we enjoy ours "

shouldnt there be more unity and harmony between faiths ?
does this gesture show hope ?

Many people say that all the people who don't believe in Jesus will go to hell forever. For those who believe this, how exactly do you think people will be tortured there? With fire and a red devil like in the old pictures? I just want to know how sadistic your beliefs are.

Believers always say that the atheists are wrong and that if we look around us we should ask our selves"who made all this? this universe means proves the existance of a higher power which created it". It ois absurd to believe that the universe came out of nothing, for everything must have a creator.
But, applying the same logic, isn't it equaly absurd to believe that this creator came out of nothing? isn't it equally logical to believe that he, too, must be made by a higher creator? and so on, and so on!!!

If you disagree with this logic then why? on what basis? Why is it a must for the mind to refuse that the universe have existed for ever , or came out of nothing, or never had a creator while it is also a must for the same mind to belive that God came out of nothing, had no creator, or existed for ever!!!
How could we apply such double standards and still call this logic?
Or is the creator a totaly illogical idea which we were brought up not to realise how absurd it is?

Why does he punish man (the sinner)? He created all things and he gave more power to Satan (the cause of all sin).

It's like he's punishing the patient who has cancer rather than attacking the cancer itself. In fact he gave more power to the cancer.

His punishments to man also seem so severe, eternal damnations and torture. All for something Adam and Eve did tens of thousands of years ago. It seems Satan should have been banished from the Garden of Eden..

Take a buddist monk for example. They live peaceful lives and never hurt anyone or anything yet they are going to spend all of eternity in hell. What kind of reasoning is that?

I'm no Jew, but doesn't the OT have to be true for the NT to be considered valid?

Job 14:10. 12
But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? ... So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Job 20:7
Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung.

Psalm 115:17
The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

Ecclesiastes 3:19
For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast.

Ecclesiastes 9:5
The dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward.

Ecclesiastes 9:10
For there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Isaiah 26:14
They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased they shall not rise.

Are there people who actually think that spells and magic are literal devices that can control the world? Or do they take the more spiritual perspective and see these rituals and practice as symbolic means to get in touch with their own spirituality? If they take the magic literally, how the heck do they provide evidence for the delusion?
