A message of Christmas goodwill has been sent by the Scottish branch of the Muslim association of GB to the Church of Scotland and the Catholic Church
" we wish Christians all the best for the coming days and hope they enjoy their festival as much as we enjoy ours "
shouldnt there be more unity and harmony between faiths ?
does this gesture show hope ?

That's wonderful. I wish such actions were as well-documented as "Islamic" threats.
I've lost nearly all my hope in humanity, but not ALL of it yet. There's a thin sliver of hope that stays lit in the darkness.

Recent world events have strained relations between the two religions, but the Muslims in Scotland are holding out an olive branch. I think it does show hope, and maybe people in other religions will follow their example.

It shows all the good will of a cat licking the mouse it has caught, just before doing what she intends to do.
Go and live for a while in a Muslim country as I have done and you will soon find out how much toleration you get, never mind good will.

It's a good start.
If you have a subscription to National Geographic, read the January issue 2006 regarding the Kurds in Iraq.
If not, then get it sometime while at your local library. It's a great story about why we make war on each other.

Pangel, you really are hard headed in your lack of understanding.
If this world is under the judgement of God but yet God in his great mercy and kindness is saving out of it a people for Himself how can there be unity and harmony between two opposites ? What communion is there between light and darkness ? What fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness ?
If the ship is sinking do you prefer unity and harmony with those who are drowning rather than to be rescued ? Of course plead with them to escape, pity them for their plight, treat them with love and compassion but don't join with them and be drowned.
The gesture does not really show hope nor is it the way forward since it is God who saves not us. If by God's grace the gesture can be taken to use it to draw them to God's salvation, then by all means. Equally if by refusing it by God's order were to bring them to salvation then, hard as it may seem, by all means save them. "I am made all things to all men that I might by all means save some."
The world is under judgement and is to be destroyed, and God will make a new heaven and a new earth wherein righteousness dwells. God is seeking a people for Himself to share all His goodness and love and splendour, a people who are not forced but voluntarily want Him. Escape now while you have the opportunity. Do not, like Lot's sons-in-law, regard the entreaty as one that mocks, Genesis 19/14.
Forgive me for keeping on telling you, your righteousness is a poor substitute for His.

we need to emphasis more the the things that Islam, Christianity and Judaism have in common. They all come from the same root.
Sadly it seems that the God of all three religions was cruel and violent as whenever he shows up in the Bible the killing begins.

with answers as moriah`s(first answer, i guess), it doesn`t seem to be much hope... but yes there is a little bit of hope( not too much) that people will understand that the religion is a personal thing and we should see others as individuals not as followers of a certain religion...

Not ALL Muslims are assholes. This is an example of the sensible ones. The terrorist will never change until they are burning in hell. Theirs is a warped mind. A Blessed Christmas to you.

It does but it will probably be unique to Scotland where Muslims are well integrated into the wider community.
