What kinds of actions does Jesus hold up as worthy of imitation? Are these kinds of actions universal, applicable to all people, or do they apply only to people with a certain religious outlook?

I'm sitting here answering questions about this Merry Christmas vs Happy Holidays stuff. Why can't some people just accept that there are other religions besides Christianity? I'm a Druid, and I don't walk around telling everyone I meet "Merry Yule" or "Happy Winter Solstice." Some would be offended, and some just wouldn't understand. So I say Happy Holidays, or Season's Greetings. What is wrong with that? They are generic, politically correct terms that don't offend anyone.

Please inlighten me about the fanatics who read and quote the bible,I`m familiar with the Baptists and they think their belief is the only one.Went to one of there services Sunday and found it not very spiritual, just like a big meeting.Trying not to pre-judge but find it hard since they feel you have to believe as they do to be saved.Any comments

People have stated that science has proven that the bible is a fairytale, but give no facts to suport this. For the believers what does science and history prove is true?

These days kids are FORCED to either promote homosexuality or keep their mouths shut if thanks to the GSA nazis (among others) and God forbid that anything but evolution be taught in public schools because that would just be wrong. If it gets any worse they'll start arresting kids for even saying "God" in school. Seperation of church and state was put out there so that we all aren't forced to believe the same thing, but apparently evolutionism is exempt from said seperation.

We here and see news that Muslim faith tells that anyone who does not believe as they do needs to die. Are there any free thinkers in the Muslim world that challenge this notion? Or do they truely believe everyone is just going to fall in line? I dont get it. What's the story?

Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholic bishops, Reform Church, etc all have stated that they encourage the registration and/or PROHIBITION of handguns in the United States! Is there a church that realizes that it is citizens with guns that ensure freedom of religion?

I've never met an athiest who loved people. They always seem to be misanthropes. Maybe athiests have never met Christians who love them. I don't know. But if you are athiest what do you have hope in?

And can you prove that God isn't real? Just as I cannot prove to you that He is. I just don't know if I could go through life hating people and God, and people who love God.

if a person doesn't believe in God as an actual person looking down and controlling stuff, but believes in the morals, and values taught through the stories and teachings of religion..is that person an athiest? like if a person is christian, and doesn't believe that adam and eve were real and that God created the earth in 7 days, but reads the Bible and goes to church for the sole purpose of tradition and the upholding of values and morals?

I have four books on or about Buddhism which I will be reading soon, and I'd like the opinion of the Buddhists here on them. The books are:

The Perfection of Wisdom (translated by R.C. Jamieson)
The Dhammapada (the Sacred Writings series)
The Path to Enlightenment (His Holiness the Dalai Lama)
Collected Statements, Interviews & Articles (His Holiness the Dalai Lama)

I know that there are different sects of Buddhism - will these books cover the basics?

If not, what would you recommend?
