They always leave that part out when it comes to politics or international relations. I don't know where it applies, but certainly not there.

When war is prompted from the pulpit "Christians" get mixed messages. I was once told by a co-worker what it was like to be a teenager in WWII Italy. Because he was too young to be drafted as a soldier, he and other boys from the local school would be given a few pennies or food for helping to collect bodies after firefights around the village. His village was overrun by the Italians, then by the Germans, then by the Allies. Each morning as the soldiers, from the various armies, would go off to fight the local priest would come out and bless them and tell them "God was on their side". He asked me "how God could be on three differing sides of a war?" I couldn't answer him.

I was reading the Sermon on the Mount last night, and found myself asking a similar question.

Jesus emphasizes being humble and loving your enemies. He tells people it is better to pray quietly with God that to stand around talking in a way that brings glory to you.

How many Christians do we interact with that do not follow these commands?

It's easier to judge than to love, but that is exactly what Jesus is demanding from us: to do what is more difficult, because by doing so, we create love in our own hearts, peace in our society, and a true connection to God.

Unfortunately, Christians are human, just like anyone else. We find it increasingly difficult in the face of the evil around us to live up to our own high ideals.
Fortunately, Jesus has forgiven us for our sins and our imperfections, and stands as our Advocate.

Thank you for pointing this out...I'll try to do better.
God bless you!!
