You are being very generalizing when you make your claims. An atheist is just a person who doesn't believe in God, not some organization of people who hate life.
And what do you mean "can't love anyone but themselfs"? I'm an atheist and a microbiologist. I believe in humanity and love and the possibility of peace among people. I do research on pediatric HIV and because of the work we have done, we have almost eliminated cases of mothers passing HIV on to their children.
What has religion done? Start wars, 9/11, extremists, Nazis, KKK, hates gays, oppresses women, crusades, inquisitions.
The Church almost killed Galileo because he said the Earth revolved around the sun. Where is the compassion there?
In my experience, atheists are much more compassionate and human loving than Christians. An atheist will work to solve problems on Earth while a Christian will say "things will be better in Heaven, be patient".

To you God is the ultimate incarnation of love, but an ahteists disbeliefe in God has nothing to do with love. Ultimately it has to do with what they feel is true about the universe.
Rather than asking if atheists are narcisists, perhaps you should try to see the world from another point of view, and find out what becomes important.
Atheists are just as capable at loving other people as someone who believes in God, they just don't believe in an ultimate truth or ultimate representation of love above or outside of what we ourselves can express...

think of roughly this, if God would not enable Hittler to be killed and eradicated, in the present day this international what could it have become ? specific, bible did point out some killings, yet look for the time of the entire financial ruin of the e book, you will see those have been righteous killing and have been meant to provide up greater harms sooner or later to God's people. simply by fact specific God sees the destiny and specific God looks after His own; on a similar time as human basically sees what that's on the instant, and what you notice could be deceptive. Why have confidence on what you notice once you may't see the destiny ? Why not have confidence God who knows of the destiny and what's stable for you, and who cares and loves His toddlers. finally, you acquire to choose on area, are you with the devil's military or God's military ?

Im a Christian and I dont think this is a fair assumption or question. I was fully capable of love before I was a believer. Face it, even I can admit that God isnt the easiest concept to grasp, and once you do, you have a few hundred different versions of Him (or them) you have to look at. Not all of us were always believers, most of us have had experiences that have made us believe. But that doesnt mean we were cold unloving narcisists before then.

I've yet to come across a god that was love. The christian god I know of is a jealous and vengeful being who is insecure enough that he sends anyone who talks to the competition to hell. If you obey him with all your heart...he may let you into heaven. But there's no guarantee of that.
I'd be more inclined to think an atheist is capable of understanding love. Pure and unconditional love. Considering that anyone who would worship a god like the one I described is in an abusive relationship with their deity and clearly aren't the people to get love advice from.
A God who makes conditions about what you can do if you want to receive his love...that is NOT love.

I believe that when I die that's it. Consequently I just try to live my life in such a way that my life will be a joyful memory for those with whom I have been fortunate enough to have shared it.
I love my wife and children and many other people in my life -- so why do I need to play your game of "let's pretend" -- that a fictional entity who symbolizes love incarnate is real in order to qualify the love that I have for them? I would rather just live that love - to work to provide and care for them, to nurture and show my feelings for them in a thousand other little ways each day. Who are you to judge the quality of that love? You don't know us, or what we feel, you just seem to want to pass judgement and play with semantics or psychological terms.
To me it would seem you want to be arbitrarily putting limits on love. Why? If your God -is- love as you propose why must a divine being fit a limited human concept with limited human labels. If what you claim is true then I am truly following your religion - I just don't need the labels or the fantasy of an afterlife. I'm not into all that stuff - but as far as I'm concerned you can do whatever you want, believe what you want - as long as we can get along in the real world, that's good enough for me to be content.
All I would ask is you learn to have a little respect for your fellow man, or else if you can't manage that then, just mind your own life and let me go on with mine.

You people REALLY need to read more than one book( and half of you haven't even read the Bible. It's pathetic....)
Atheists believe that there is no higher being, that we create our OWN destinies, that there is no great reward after death, so we need to make this life be worth all it can be and that the only way to achieve any sort of immortality is through good works and raising good kids that live on after us......It has nothing to do with orgies and being "narcisists"(sic)
God you people are one-trick ponies sometimes....

The idea of Atheism is not that god isnt cared for. It is that he doesnt exist. I do not believe in any god but do have my own ethical values and care about things. I am as capable of love as anyone in any religion is. It is in part that which makes us human. I do not know if my beliefs are true and do not discredit others for theirs but i do now that all people are capable of love and maybe it is in that true love for another person that we may find "god"

I am not an Atheist but, I don't think that's really fair. Gandhi was once asked what he thought of Christians and he said "If I truly ever meet one, I'll tell you". He was right on the money. We are meaner than heck actually to each other and don't deserve the term.

It's not that they don't care for God because they deny his existence. They only love and care for those who only agree with them and compromise with them because this site is the perfect example. They must see it to believe before they an love it or love back but what about their unborn child that's in their womb or love one. They can't touch the child or really see the child regardless of technology but the child moves and they know it exists. Why can't they acknowledge God when He moves in their lives and to those who testify of it and have without a doubt experienced It? Why can't they respect the believers who have God and have experienced him? May God have mercy on them! *(*
