one argument christians use is the causality argument, saying that if the universe exists, then there had to be something that created it

I was wondering what other people have to say, arguing against that.

I think i remember betrand russel writing that, for all we know, whatever created the universe, may have been created from something that was a part of endless line of universes creating universes.

I would also add that even if a "prime mover" existed, it does not necessarily indicate that it is the "christian God"

any other arguments?

I have been lucky enough to live and experience different cultures,
I have lived in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Holland and United States. While living in Europe I have never meet anyone, not even religious people, telling me if I did not believe or practice Christianity I would burn in hell .Please do not take this as an offence, I am very serious, while here in the States I keep hearing , especially looking at so many posts on yahoo, that if you are not Christian you will burn in hell for the eternity. I have hard time understanding, is this an American thing?
I can assure you when I did mention this to my European friends they were laughing about it. I am not trying to offend anyone I am being very honest. I also do not think using threats of hell is very productive, if your intent is to show love to another human being saying to convert or end up in hell does not seem very loving to me. In any case, I am puzzled by the fact that
while living in Europe no one has ever said that to me. I cannot comprehend why do people say such a thing in the States.

Does the Catholic Church take a stance on whether the pregnant mother or her child is to be saved, if only one can be saved? If so, can you tell me just what that stance is and (if you know),where it is found?

Have you noticed the increase of postings lately?

What do you think is the reason?

What are your favorite sections to view?

What interest you in coming to the Religion/Spirituality Section?

About how long do you think you spend on Y/A?

I am interested in all of your answers (if they aren't rude!). I have noticed an increase since October, and I was wondering about it. My favorite sections are Religion, Current Events, and Pets...and I occasionally enjoy sharing Recipes in the Food section. I usually visit about 4 hours here, a couple in the morning and a couple at night. I come to the Religion Section to learn more and more about people.
Thanks for answering, and I hope that you have a very good evening.

[2:134] Were you present when death came to Jacob, when he said to his sons. 'What will you worship after me?' They answered, 'We will worship thy God, the God of thy fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, the One God; and to Him we submit ourselves.'

"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

When at times you feel a "flutter" and know that something is not right with your spiritual heart. Only by changing - giving up worry, jealousy, hatred, anger, prejudice, and pride- can I maintain my spiritual health. Sometimes flutters are not life-threatening but truly life-changing.

Prayer: God, keep our hearts clean and healthy today. Help us to practice good works of love, kindness, forgiveness, and service. Amen.

This guy says he cannot remarry because he is Catholic and divorced and the church won't allow it.

But he also says that premarital sex is ok.

Since when does the Catholic church approve of premarital sex?

WASHINGTON (Rotting) - Democratic Bush family-planning Chief Keroack in a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary said birth control, pregnancy tests, breast-cancer screening and other health services encourages sexual abstinence among teens. An HHS spokeswoman said a chain of Boston-area pregnancy clinics advocate abstinence as a way to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and that people who have more than one sex partner have a diminished neurological capacity to experience loving relationships. Democrats will have the power to force California Rep. Henry Waxman to chair the Rules that oversee our nation's most pressing problem that the president did not get.

She said that her pastor told here that petrified wood is not real because nothing is over 6000 years old and that dinosaur bones are really just rock formation that man put in the ground thousands of years ago. Do ALL christians think like that? If so, how can they believe such stupidity ? and is it ethical for a preacher to tell people those things when they are a student?

During a Reki session I was brought in the presence of and experienced 'oneness' with a "pure white light" which I understood to be our 'creator'. Has anyone else experienced this during a NDE (near death experience) or (of more interest) other avenue as I did during a Reki session?

In Islam, Muslims are constantly doing the will of Allah. Apparently in Islam, Allah is less willing to handle his own affairs and needs lesser Gods to impart his will. So essentially Islam makes the Muslim into a Demi-God who then pretend to be arbitors of the great God's (Allah) will on earth. Unbelievers are lesser creatures who must submitt.

Its one thing to believe that some low-rent book, from any religion, represents the voice of God. However its quite another to take it upon yourself, to enforce the supposed will of God.

A human, believing in a religion, isnt necessarily pretending to be a God when he trys to manage "his own affairs" using his interpretation of the book. Its when someone tries to manage my or your affairs, especially by force, due to his claim that he is enforcing the will of God, that he is then "playing God".

Given this, one must conclude that Muslims essentially pretend to be Demi-Gods and Islam is the upitome of paganism.
