Scholars vary on when they believe and who the believe wrote the Old Testament...but it's widely accepted that the Old Testament was not written until several hundred years after the fact...especially re: Abraham, Moses, Noah and ect....considering these are supposed to be the word of God....why were they not written sooner? and considering that Oral tradition was commonly used...isn't it safe to assume then that these "stories" could have been altered or changed accordingly over time?

If so, shouldn,t they try to find the commonly agreeable interpretation of the scriptures, the prophets, and the incarnations instead of quarrelling about who is satanic and whose faith is from God? Same God would not send conflicting and divisive messages to His children. Does He? He does not want His children to quarrel and fight and hurt each other. Does He?

Even when you act nice and proper and answer a question without hate or animosity, people STILL attack you. The only reason I can think of is that they enjoy insulting people, they enjoy antagonizing people, they want to get a reaction, and finally they must have REALLY LOW self esteem. They are mean because that is the only behavior they know. So go ahead get your rocks off and insult me. Guess What? I just can't seem to care about you people. I feel sorry for you. I pity you. Maybe they should go to a shrink and get those issues sorted out.

I just dont understand why so much energy is wasted bashing christianity, or islam, or judism, or any other religion. If you don't believe it that's fine. I used to be an atheist, and would make the same silly comments and ask the same questions. But I have the answers now.

I asked a question the other day about why people think religion or lack of is a barometer for intelligence and several answers were that a "study had been done that proved" that 1) atheists were more intelligent than believers or 2) that believers were more intelligent than atheists.

I've looked online and through several databases like Lexis-Nexus and can't find an actual study correlating the two directly or inversely. I've found articles from people who drew conclusions from studies they've read about based on religiosity and education but not any actual studies on intelligence and religiosity. So, if you know of a study, can please direct me to it? I'd like to read it.

Thanks!

Buddha taught that humans suffer because we continually strive after things that do not give lasting happiness. Focus on suffering & ending suffering sounds depressive to me. I find it hard to comprehend coz I was brought to put love, peace, honesty, respect & friendship as most vital for us. And how's does that apply to people with terminal illness? the The Four Noble Truths & The Noble Eightfold Path doesn't cover it. (ref: http://www.religionfacts.com/buddhism/beliefs/purpose.htm)

How come a lion and a tiger can produce offspring if they mate. Animals without a common ancestor can't mate, or was it a divine miracle that God created two entirely seperate species on different continents who just happen to be able to mate. Another nail in the creationist coffin I fear.

Since mankind is human and makes mistakes, doesnt making peace a goal to achieve peace set mankind up for failure? If one were to raise the bar so to speak so to clear the peace goal and many times over, wouldn't healing be a better goal?

This is what I believe, the false prophet would be Mohammed. And the new religion is Islam, It came 400 years after Christianity. Jesus said that the new religion would grow so big and be a big threat to world peace. Well, compare tensions between Christianity and Islam today. And once again I have very good friends that are muslims. So my purpose by writing this is not to offend anyone. Muslims does not believe that Jesus are God´s son. We have freedom of speech and write. That is a right for everyone! What do you believe, think and know about this? So I hope I don´t get killed by some fanatics for writing this, hehe. I don´t want no fattva on my head!!!

Think about this...

Man has been inventing religions for thousands of years : sun worship, moon worship, ocean worship, star worship, Egyptian religion, Inca religion, Aztec religion, Maya religion, Native American religion, Greek religion, Roman religion, Aboriginal religion, African tribal religions, mono theistic religions, Maori religion etc etc. the current crop of religions seem to be more in the long list of man made religions that have come and gone over the millenia.

"And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die"

(Deuteronomy 21:20-21).

.... Let the excuses begin !

Is seeing an attractive woman dressed in a pair of jeans and a babydoll top, with her beautiful hair hanging in a sculpted ponytail, and her feet in some very cute sandals...a provocation to rape her?

I'm very curious, because although I know most men will look at a pretty lady walking down the street, only sickos and psychopaths rape them. However, this seems to be reason numero uno why Muslims advocate the veil, burka, etc. for women, and it seems like an extreme prophylaxis to deter a potential assault, when the women aren't doing anything, it's the sickness in the potetial rapists heart and mind.

Who is really safe from anything these days? This argument for "hijab" really seems overkill. Women still get assaulted in veils and overgarments. Would it not be more sensical to just make rape a capital offense, punishable by castration and life inprisionment or death depending on the severity? That should curtail rogue "passions" and give females more freedom. Right?

According to Judeo-Christian Legends, God has tried to wipe out mankind (Floods), and has committed countless acts of barbarism against humanity (killing all firstborn of egypt etc.) Shouldn't we kill this misanthrope before it succeeds?

I'll grant you that we aren't very good at it and I'll also grant that everybody is going to have a slightly different idea about what purpose and meaning and morality are. Nonetheless, it is my understanding that religious people are taught, in no uncertain terms, that humans are absolutely not capable of figuring these things out with God. But are you sure that that assumption is correct?

I am going to lose my job. My car broke down and I cannot afford to buy the part it needs to fix it. I don't know anyone who can drive me to work every day I need to go. Me and my husband cannot get along no matter how hard we try. I have prayed my heart out and nothing happens. My furnace in my house quit working and I cannot afford to fix that either and I live in Ohio where in the winter it gets so cold that you freeze to death. My grandma is dying of colon cancer. And now my mom probably has uterine cancer. So I just wanna know what I did to deserve this life. There are people living high who have no worries. So why is all the worry on me?? Please somebody enlighten me. Give me some inspiration please.

If God is the creator of everything, then technically speaking he created Hell. Why would a "loving" God create such a place to torture lost souls for all eternity?!?

Doesn't seem very loving to me if he actually created a place like that....

.oO(Again makes more sense that MAN created God and all that jazz to instill fear into the population)
