I think it was TOBA(located in sumatra island,indonesia),...now it is a big lake,...with a depth of thousands of metres,...it was estimated that the eruption occur about several million years ago,..and it consider as the biggest euption in world history,...because it covered most of the earth athmosphere so dark,..with gas and ashes,..contain methane,....resulted in cooling the earth temperature,...and producing an ice age.

It is believe by geologist that this volcano will erupt again...some day.

Mt. Toba was what you consider a supervolcano and it exploded about 75,000 years ago. It was huge, consider it 1,000s of times bigger than Mt. Saint Helens. The next supervolcano is the one that lies in Yellowstone National Park. It usually explodes every 650,000 years or so. Unfortunately, it is over due for an eruption. Scientist are watching it closely. It go off tomorrow or it could go off 25,000 years from now. They don't know. If it goes off everything wtihin 300 mile radius of the eruption will be dead. Outside of that will be damage that is severe caused by mountains of ask. In fact most of the midwest will be covered with several inches of ash if not feet of ash. Basically very bad news. This would be a life changing event for people in the U.S. and probably for most people in the world. Not only would ash cover the ground but the sulfur and ash that is released into the air and other chemicals from the eruption will block out the suns rays. This would cause mass crop failures all over the world and the worlds tempurature would plummet. There would be mass starvations and mass extinctions. There is really nothing we can do to stop it if it were to happen in the next 100 years or so. Perhaps, after a hundred years or so maybe we would have the technology to stop it, doubtful though. Anyway, the good news is that it probably wont happen in our life time. But, eventually Yellowstone is going to erupt. I hope this helps. Check out Livescience.com they have a lot of info on it and a lot of all cool science stuff. Take care.

I believe it was Krakatoa.

The 1883 eruption ejected more than 25 cubic kilometres of rock, ash, and pumice, and generated the loudest sound ever historically reported — the cataclysmic explosion was distinctly heard as far away as Perth in Australia (approx. 1930 miles or 3100 km), and the island of Rodrigues near Mauritius (approx. 3000 miles or 4800 km). Atmospheric shock waves reverberated around the world seven times and were detectable for five days.
