The bible teaches that God told Noah to build an ark and take animals 2 by 2 etc etc.
He then sent rains for 40 days and nights and wiped out every other living thing on the planet. That was genocide on a massive scale.
As the Christian religion teaches that the bible is the "Word of God",can that be taken as a confession of such an evil deed?

Although not a religion per say, Siddha yoga believes that God is everywhere, in everything and in all of us. He pervades the universe and lies in our subconcious mind waiting to be discovered through deed meditation by calming and focusing the mind. They believe that there were/are Gurus who exist (Jesus being one of them) that can unlock the kundalini (hidden energy) that lies dormant at ones lower back, essentially awakening God in all of us. I have been a Catholic the first half of my life. I am now 29, have a new son I am going to baptize and just want to see if anyone knows of any conflicting issues that could arise by embracing both entities. Again, I still only believe in one God. I just feel like Christianity may shun upon use of meditation (which is much like prayer) to get closer to God. Anyone have any advise? Thank you and God Bless!

So for the past couple of days I have ventured away from the R&S section of Y!A. I went into the politics section. I'm not going to lie, some of the questions I participated were rather pointed, but man I can not stress how much worse the hate was in that section from here.

If you think the Atheist vs. Christianity debate is bad here take a look at the Dem vs. Republican debate there. No one ever feels bad about openingly hating other people fudementally on that site. Here I feel both Christians and Atheist at lease sometimes try to have a civil conversation. There is absolutely no comparison to that forum.

So for a while I guess I'll return to the relative calm of the R&S section. But if you ever need something to get your blood boiling. Take a look at the politics section. Try to spread the love though, not the hate. I can't always say I have, but I'll try.

If you were told the story of santa claus, his raindeer, the elves and so on when you were young. And if there were "holy" books written about it, and "churches" that were everywhere that preached about it and your parents and their parents all passed it on and you were never told that it wasn't true, do you think you would believe it for the rest of your life? (I think you see where I'm going)

I'm indebted to another answerer for inspiring this question. Apparently, during the Rapture that takes up the Christians before the rest of us fry, the faithful are due to meet their Messiah "in the air". Firstly, what kind of organisational genius thought that one up? Meet by Starbucks, fine. Meet at the railways station, fine. Meet IN THE AIR...Tricky.
But my real question is...what if you're already IN the air when the Rapture comes. Trapped on a 747, say - do you just get taken up and slammed through the roof of the plane, and to hell with everyone else now plummeting to the ground at an insane number of miles per hour? What about people indoors at the time - do you get dragged up through the roof, or does the Rapture only happen when you've all popped outside to find out what all the fuss is about?

I have always worshipped Christ while in Catholic school up until the age of 15 when i changed to a public school and stopped going to church, recieving communion, ect. I am now 29 years old and know I need to integrate a strong spiritual side into my life including getting closer to God. I have been attending some Siddha Yoga meetings and have found that the relaxation and feelings of inner peace is very similar to that of church. Now that my wife and I have a baby I am going to have him baptized in a few months and intend on going to a Catholic church every weekend and refreshing my relationship with God. The basic idea behind Siddha Yoga is that God is everywhere and in everything and dwells in each of us. This can be experienced by calming the mind and controlling breathing among other things. I feel it is essentially not a religion, but rather a way to fine tune my connection with god and the universe. Will I be condemned by Christ/God if I embrace both entities? God Bless!

This presents 2 problems: 1) 600 million people believe that disobediant children should be executed 2) The other 1.4 billion believe that the bible is metaphorical and needs to be interpreted, but why on earth would god send the bible to man, as the only tool given to us to assist in entering heaven, and make it subject to man's personal and varied opinions?

"Bush Signs Terror Interrogation Law", AP Breaking News, October 17, 2006

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush signed legislation Tuesday authorizing tough interrogation of terror suspects and smoothing the way for trials before military commissions, calling it a 'vital tool' in the war against terrorism ... With the bill I'm about to sign, the men our intelligence officials believe orchestrated the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people will face justice," Bush said. A coalition of religious groups staged a protest against the bill outside the White House, shouting "Bush is the terrorist" and "Torture is a crime." About 15 of the protesters, standing in a light rain, refused orders to move. Police arrested them one by one."
