You are correct.
The entire bible is a litany of indictable offenses plus all kinds of war crimes by God and people acting in God's behalf.
God kills indescriminately when angered, ands other people to kill. God sends plagues, rains, hellfire and brimstone (Sodom and Gomorrah), and even targets individuals for special misery and retribution.
Jesus, as the claimed son of God, endorses God's actions, even as he tries to soften the blow. But while he's at it, he creates an artificial gratitude requirement (he died for us, except that everyone dies, regardless of the reason).
Human ethics and moral behavior have evolved beyond these jokers. The sooner we can reduce/eliminate religion's primitive cultural influence over our social institutions, the better.

LOL! Ok, I pretty much don't believe in the bible as literal truth. It was written by men, not GOD, who claimed to be inspired by GOD to write it.....whatever! So to answer your question, no because I don't think that story was true...
As for Flashypsw, if that was REALLY the case (GOD wiping out the earth (and only leaving Noah and his Ark) during the flood to get rid of sin) then wouldn't that be pretty stupid of him to do that if he knows we are all sinners???? And if he is all knowing, then he would've known that his plan wouldn't work and that people were going to keep sinning anyway????
Also, if people have been able to find all these artifacts over the years (dinosaur bones, mummies, etc.) then where are some fossilized artifacts from this great boat????

Answer=No. why you ask? He is the creator and Judge. read my info which explains why all this was OK.
The number forty is used by God to represent a period of testing or judgment (the length of time necessary to accomplish some major part of Gods plan in his dealings with various portions of mankind). The 40 days of rain in the days of the flood were the judgments of God.
The forty days and nights of the flood are symbolic of God's judgments which fall primarily upon his people and the spiritual ark today. Even though the wicked drowned right away, God still had a purpose for the ark to go through the 40 day and night period.
Even in the Bible it says that no one or nothing can shell out as much fury as God.

I came to the conclusion that some people really have nothing else to do, but to criticize the true believers. Please be careful of your mocking is all I want to say.
Noah was told to build the ark, because GOD was going to destroy the world. People were doing sin and living in sin. Noah warned people that it was going to rain. But as people of today they didn't listen.

I must admit, this question bothers me too. It seems the God of the Bible has mellowed out considerably since then, mostly due to the fact that His Son Jesus was able to talk to him about it, He being the only one capable of true debate with the Almighty. Just an idea.

Nope, it should be taken as a sign of warning. Just like you wash all that nasty dandruff from your scalp, God got rid of the bad seeds that plagued the earth. Theres a reason for everything that he does. My advice, to understand it more pick up the "Word of God" and read more in depth about it.

We're all going to die- if you take the idea that God is in control then he murders all of us when we die. God however is a God of justice- when we die we will either be judged according to our own righteousness (ie bankrupt and deserving of hell) or according to Christ's righteousness- its not like there isn't a way of salvation.
Its also worth bearing in mind that it took Noah and his sons 100 years to build this massive floating lump of wood, meanwhile they were warning people of the flood to come. But people just laughed at them...
...interestingly just like people laugh at people who say that they need to trust in Jesus to save them from hell. Ah well, don't say I didn't warn you!

God is the judge of all. He is just, and everything He does is just. If we do not understand, it is because we neither have all the facts, nor the wisdom to deal with them. Out of all of mankind, only Noah and his family were loyal to God, so only they were saved.

of course, you have to take everything said in the bible with a grain of salt. Much has been proved erroneous, just simply a way for people to control others.
