If you were told the story of santa claus, his raindeer, the elves and so on when you were young. And if there were "holy" books written about it, and "churches" that were everywhere that preached about it and your parents and their parents all passed it on and you were never told that it wasn't true, do you think you would believe it for the rest of your life? (I think you see where I'm going)

The Santa Claus analogy is silly. We can prove there is no Santa Claus. Not too difficult since he never comes on Christmas and the cookies just add to our daddy's belly. And no house on the north pole. God can't be disproven so easily. And we experience Jesus every day in our lives. And that adds to our joy and contentment in our lives.

Well, it would be foolish to believe something which is provably falsifiable (ie, Santa) once over a certain age. Some people probalby would believe it anyway, if it were preached enough, however. ON the other hand, God is not of the physical world, and therefore cannot be physically proven or disproven. Therefore, belief in God is not necessarily a foolish act, so long as this belief does not attempt to debunk perfeclty good science (and yes, I think it is possible to have belief in God that does not conflict with science, and that such a beleif leaves everybody better off).

St. Nick was a real person. History proves that. Did he ever heal anyone, or bring a person dead three days back to life by simply calling his name?
Santa and Rudolph and the elves are good for children but as you mature you will realize that the world is real and Santa is just a tale.
Jesus is real. Again, proven by history. He truly did heal, raise the dead and the list goes on. The grave couldn't hold Him down and He lives on inside of all who believe. That is the message that should be passed on from generation to generation. Truth and love should be shown to our children and they in turn will pass it on to theirs.

You are a sad excuse for an athiest or agnostic. Better question to any religion: do you really belive that an invisible, omnipotent entity lives in the sky, can read minds, and judges people according to certain rules and regulations is as crazy an idea as dying in battle and receiving 40 virgins upon arrival in heaven? There are kooks in all religions, and even some without religion. Let the sheep believe what they want, anything to either help them cope with life or make them less of a**holes. If they need to believe that "all is as [insert deity here] wants it to be" then so be it. They lack faith in themselves, so they substitute it with faith in an invisible man....to each his own.

Personally my parents never 'made me believe' anything. Have you ever turned your philosophy around on yourself?

If God is not real, then why are there so many that do believe in Him? Why are there so many churches? Don't you think that there has to be some substance to it? Or do you really think that millions of people are just trying to 'pull the wool over your eyes'? Don't you think that millions of people would have better things to do?

You might. if you were told that gravity didn't exist and that you needed to carry magnets in your pockets to prevent you from floating away but then discovered that the Truth is gravity was all you needed would you still believe that too? The Truth will set you free. santa does not exist. Jesus is the reason for the season.

Just how many things do you believe simply becasue you were taught them? Your argument reveals that everything you believe, you believe because someone taught it to you. I pity that in all your years of learning, you have learned nothing by yourself, only what others have told you. I pity your ignorance.

Children are taught about God. Adults know Him.

what you don't understand and most unbelievers don't understand is that our belief is based Not on what we have learned or Not learned. that comes after we believe. It is based on our personal experience of being touched by God Himself. We found Him by going directly to HIm for the answers of His existence. After finding then we study to grow.......you and most others have it turned around as usual

I don't understand your point.

Comparing Christ to claus is ridiculous if that was your attempt.
