I'm indebted to another answerer for inspiring this question. Apparently, during the Rapture that takes up the Christians before the rest of us fry, the faithful are due to meet their Messiah "in the air". Firstly, what kind of organisational genius thought that one up? Meet by Starbucks, fine. Meet at the railways station, fine. Meet IN THE AIR...Tricky.
But my real question is...what if you're already IN the air when the Rapture comes. Trapped on a 747, say - do you just get taken up and slammed through the roof of the plane, and to hell with everyone else now plummeting to the ground at an insane number of miles per hour? What about people indoors at the time - do you get dragged up through the roof, or does the Rapture only happen when you've all popped outside to find out what all the fuss is about?

Watch the "Left Behind" series...it will answer a lot of your questions.

Our body will just dissappear (if youre on a plane and the one beside you has accepted Jesus, you will most certainly just be staring at his clothes. The Bible says two will be in a field..and one will disappear.
Can you imagine all the wrecks on the freeway when the driver has transended?

And youre not going to "fry" right away. You will be given another chance to accept Christ in the 7 year tribulatiion...but it wont be as easy as if you did now. God's spirit wont strive as much then...and you will face heavy penalties for not taking the mark of the beast. I really suggest seeing "left Behind"..believer or not, it will answer a great deal of questions....

Is there a possibility you are thinking too worldly?
Okay, when the rapture occurs the dead in christ shall rise first(that is the believers who are already dead). Then all of us still alive will be taken up in the air to be with the lord forever. The unbelievers that are left behind will witness the most horrific events in history unfold in front of them.
The first thing that will happen will be a man comes and has all the answers. He will sign a peace treaty with Israel for 7 years, but will break that treaty in 3 1/2 years. You will have to accept his mark either on your forehead or on your right hand. This individual will be the antichrist.Unbelievers will believe he is their redeemer when he is assassinated and resurrects after three days. He's actually mocking Jesus' resurrection.Unbelievers don't worry, you will have one more chance to accept God's promise of forgiveness and love along with eternal life,or you can follow the beast and accept his mark and be doomed for hell.Where you will not have any rest from the torment day or night forever. If you choose not to take the mark of the beast you will be martyred. That is the definition of a true martyr.Dying for a big ol empty box in the middle of Mecca is not.If you do not believe and still refuse to take the mark you will still die,but i'm still studying what happens to your soul. Some other members can fill in the blanks that I haven't filled.Read the 1611 publication of the Holy Bible.Read Revelations written by John The Baptist. It (WILL ANSWER) your questions about the end times.Take heed though, there will not be a tribulation period before the rapture.

if you think about it in this perspective that "every eye shall see him" (again this is only my thoughts on your question mixed with what the bible says) most people will probably freak out just a bit to see him coming in the sky with all his glory and the glory of his father with all the angels of heaven ( if one angel was enough to knock over an entire army imagine what all the angels are capable of) flying a plane may become the last thing on someones mind and it may crash however it is written that he will raise the dead "the dead in christ will rise" so the plane crash not really affecting people would not pose a problem. the people in their houses i would assume hearing the comotion would come to see what it was. those that are deaf may see the brightness of his comeing and come to see it. however if it is truly as loud as it says it is im sure that they will hear it.

god bless

Christians will all be taken up no matter where we are, but it is not in our present human form. Our bodies will be transformed in an instant to Heavenly bodies, so roofs and walls will not even know we passed through them.

We will be changed in the twinkling of an eye and the dead in Christ will rise first and those who are alive and remain will meet Him in the air. I take it that when we are changed, it wont matter if we are on the moon or not.

I always thought they would ever so slowly drift up towards the sky.
In fact, in anticipation of that day, I have a case of bottle rockets stored in the garage.

Our physical bodies will not rise up, the Bible talks about our souls rising and meeting Jesus in the air.

I think most of those who believe in the rapture would view the other folks on your airplane as 'collateral damage', an acceptable cost of making it into the club.

Nice guess but no, when it says that we will meet him in the air, it means that our bodies will dissapear, and our souls will meet him where he waits for us, essentially, in the air.
