If you weren't so obnoxious then people different from you would not feel animosity toward you?

Anyone can answer as this is not aimed toward any group in particular.

For a long time I lived life feeling that there is some god or thing making life bad for me, i felt that people were horrible or nasty to me. Then a while back I realized that everything in my life happened because of my negative outlook on people and the world. I realized that I am the creator of my future and I can control the outcome of my life and how people treat me. I now blame myself for things that go wrong in my life, not other existing or non-existing entities. I am happy and fullfilled, and some say I am crazy lol! I'm crazy because I know that truth and reality is subjective.

Na then you fall into the other category as a victim being push aside by more aggressive person.

You know it's like what came first the obnoxious person or the victim of the obnoxious person.

I disagree...only because Jesus, Buddha, & several others weren't obnoxious & yet people feel great animosity towards them. It's more about the uneducated view of others that causes the animosity...& that goes for everything.

What is a cultural norm to one culture may seem obnoxious to another. Societies that are secretive and keep to themselves are misconceived in this way. Perhaps that is why the Jews have been persecuted for so long. Any subculture that doesn't follow mainstream may seem rebellious. Unfortunately, as humans, most do not tolerate differences in others, especially those who refuse to conform.

As an atheist, I find that tons of people, of all beliefs, constantly answer these questions in anger and hatred like ways. Some Christians answer like they are the best people around, some atheists answer in ways that make atheists look like nasty hate filled people, some Muslims answer like everyone else should just be in hell already.
Its funny how they all show their lack of understanding and compassion while discussing their beliefs. Why would that change anybody's opinions? It certainly wouldn't change mine (not much would though).

If people of all beliefs could just understand that everyone has a different idea of what makes the world tick and most people have been brought up their entire lives believing one thing to be true. After knowing something your entire life some jerk telling you you're wrong just because won't help you be more open minded. People can't learn from others who aren't willing to learn themselves.

You need to understand where people are coming from if you are trying to change where they are headed.

Sure, rude people are kind of asking for it, but at the same time it seems you get "persecuted" even if your nice and you're just standing up for something...If you're willing to say "Yes, there are some absolute truths out there, and I believe this is one..."

And that's okay, people are going to disagree because we're all different. I prefer that over a society of clones with no individual thought. I just hope we can (I'm talking to myself here too) get a little more polite about our disagreements.

best wishes

When I'm being self righteous, pretending to be pious, say things without thinking, threatening people with hell, calling people names, and so on, I am not only contributing to MY persecution, but the persecution off all Christians.

I am sure I do contribute, Jesus said "As they persecuted me, so also they will you.
I know that it is not me people hate, but rather Jesus who lives inside of me.
The closer I get to Jesus the more Satan hates it, and he has his people turn up the heat. I do not care if I am persecuted, because I know the truth, and greater is HE who is in me, the he who is the world.

we are all obnoxious to others at some point in time. those who dislike and disagree will think I am the most obnoxious mortal on this plane of existence yet those who agree with me will think I am all right and not as obnoxious as others.

Yes but sometimes people post hostile rantings, not even a question, and then what are you supposed to do, tell them to have a nice day.

Look at the post I copy and pasted. This person was persecuting us, we were not persecuting ourselves. Anyway I reported him.
SEE WHAT I MEAN THUMBS DOWN FOR TELLING THE TRUTH, I GUESS THE TRUTH HURTS, I'LL DISH IT OUT IN A HOSTEL WAY UNTIL PEOPLE STOP BEING HOSTEL TO ME!!!
