It is the person who has chosen God - not the other way around.
No, God does not play favorites. But if you ask anyone who participates in organized religion they will have something different to say. Christians will tell you that being 'saved' means that you have accepted JC as your personal savior.
To me, being saved means that your have come to know that your soul is eternal and is a part of the God Source. And that the only sin you could ever commit is to be separated from God/The Source, within you.
This is true for everyone, regardless of what religion you subscribe to. In that respect, we are all chosen as we are All a part of God.
It sounds to me, from the last 2 questions you have asked, that you are having a Spiritual crisis. I suggest "A Course in Miracles" it cleared many things up for me. But, a for warning - you need to let your mind expand to take it in.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosever would believe, will not parish, but have everlasting life." He saves you from death if you believe. Death in the afterlife means going to Hell. Life is going to Heaven. He has already chosen those who are going to accept His gifts. Reason is, because He knows everything. He knows you better than you know yourself. He know if you will accept Him or not. He loves all His children and are saddened when they do not return to Him.

God does not play favorites among His people, however, the Bible does tell us that God's chosen people are the Jewish race because they were the ONLY ones to obey Him in lieu of other gods.
Deuteronomy 7:6 says, "For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession." This does not mean they are automatically "saved" and will go to Heaven. In order to assurance of eternal life in heaven, one must believe in God's Son, Jesus. Because of God's Promise to redeem the Jews in the end times, Israel will turn to her Messiah and be saved. So, in the meantime, any believers in Jesus are "grafted in" and may partake of the Tree of Life.

At one time, God chose the Nation of Israel to take dominion of the earth but when they reject the Lord Jesus Christ as their king they fell and had Him killed. Today they are blinded and God deals with ever person alike through the gospel which is Christ died for our sins, He was buried and took our sins away and He rose again the third day for our justification. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Today all people must believe this gospel to get into God;s heaven. Galatians 3: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

God does not chose favorites...he loves us all the same! When he says chosen people, he means the people who want to follow Him! "Saved" Is when you believe in his one and only son who died on the cross for you....you ask to have your sins forgiven and want to be his child! God will always love you, it doesn't matter what you do!

That's a good question! If the Jews are actually "God's Chosen People", does that mean that the Christians are actually screwed?

He blesses those who are of true faith and love. He knows where our loyalties lie, to Him above all things, not to material things, & not to mankind. God is utmost and supreme, nothing compares.
Chosen people are exactly that, chosen. Because they CHOSE God, hence all that free will talk:o]
