I am grateful that my loved ones are safe and I am okay. I have enough to eat and a place to live. I have friends and the sun is shining. I have a job. I am drinking a really good cup of coffee. What are you grateful for today?

Does your philosophy stipulate that the universe is nothing more than a collection of matter and energy, and that everything is explained as just chemical processes including life and human consciousness, or does it encompass more than that? I'm not trying to debate anything. I'm just curious as to what you believe about the nature of the universe.

Theists are also welcome to chime in, but please stick to answering the question at hand only. Thanks in advance.

We are Presbyterians with poor church attendance. They go to Vacation Bible School in the summer, but the weekends are so fun for staying home or going on little mini-trips, and I just don't know if Sunday School is of *that* much value, because I know it will lead to arguments about waking up, the fight to find matching shoes, and then on top of it all, someone will be crying because she didn't get to put the felt Madonna on the storyboard.

Ahh, I just don't know the benefits and if is worth the hassle.

I find the Trinity confusing with regard to my sense of God and Jesus particularly. I know we are supposed to pray to God, through Jesus. However, when I think about God (as a 3 in 1 Devine being) I have very separate images in my mind such as a human form of Jesus and the ellusive image of a mighty being up in heaven. I hope this makes sense. What I am saying is that despite knowing that all three are one, I still have trouble sensing God as a total being.

I know times are tense right now with the things happening in the world. I still maintain that we should try and respect each other. I am talking about day to day activities with others. The people who wrote the bible are the Same people who thought the world was flat and the same people who thought the idea of the world being round to be heresy? So how can we believe anything that they believe because as we know with a little research and technology they were infact wrong. Also the story of the flood to them would have been covering the earth because thier idea of earth was just this flat area. ?? what up with that?

Can you lose your salvation? Others argue that if a 'Christian' goes to hell, they were not saved to begin with. I believe that God is just and looks at each person's heart and intentions, irrelevant of unforgiven sins commited. Just interested in knowing other Christian's thoughts on the topic. Please, serious answers only. And please no input from angry agnostics either!

I will be going away this weekend on a family outing and will be stuck with a couple of die hard Christians who, I am sure, will drive me nuts trying to convert me. I am very happy with my relationship with God and try to live by the Golden Rule but I don't agree with the Christian, or any other orgainized religion and really resent being bullied by these Holier Than Thous! But keep in mind they are my in-laws and I want to keep peace in the family.
