he'll say things like, "have you considered switching to Crest? It will make your teeth so white, they'll shine!" Frankly, I go to God for spiritual advice, not toothpaste advice.

I sort of get the impression he's sold out or something... do you think he could be getting kickbacks from the companies he endorses?

Why worship? Why do you need to hear constant flatteries from lesser beings who are beneath you? What do you get out of this? Is worship just another form of a heavenly "high" that you get off to, some sort of divine masturbation? Well, I suppose your bible does answer this question for me, at least indirectly: it says that you are a jealous God (Exodus 20:5), meaning you long for ceaseless attention and adoration; but jealousy is a bad thing, isn't it?

Most western european countries have gone through dark times and colapsed societies, wars, invasions, futile systems etc. Where have the Arabs gone wrong that they have some of the highest illiteracy rates in the world, poverty and zero respect for human life even there own.

Please focus on the Middle eastern society it self and not the rest of the world when you answer this Thanks.

Hey!i am a scientist and i'm afraid the more and more i learn about science, and alot of it is personal research, i am finding it absolutely difficult to believe in God. how can a person believe in such a thing as "God said let there be light and there was"...what about the big bang? what about physics and chemistry?why do people ignore the blatant scientific facts?just because they are in their comfort zone...it is like tasting only one type of food from five types, and saying it is the best from five types. here we have two types: God and science. please i just want scientists to respond, since you have tasted both types

what i did learn about religion was that women "bleed" because eve ate the apple and its her fault women mensturate and give birth. if i'm wrong on that, please correct me because i honestly like to learn about every religion. but if i am right, that was the curse and we're still living with it. but then why do ALL mammals go into heat? its not like the dog had anything to do with it, or the raccoon i almost hit this morning coming home, so then why do the females mensturate too? it seems unfair that ALL female mammals would bear this curse just because a human did something wrong.

any explanations or versus to discuess this? thanks!

The Bible makes many references to Hell being a "lake of fire" and sulfur, etc.
But i read in a great book called "The Case for Faith" that Hell is not some torture chamber, God is not like that, but rather a place God lets us be,because we choose to separate ourselves from Him in this life.
In that place, we can't experience our happiness with God and there is "grinding of teeth" because we now realize the great opportunity we went away from.

I always ask the question - how can your god be all loving if he is so willing to send people to hell?
Of course out comes the old analogy of god is just like a parent who loves you but will punish you for being bad. (Some parenting skills, sending a kid to his room for all eternity where he will be tortured and burned.)
If this 'dad' god analogy is true, then that means this deity not only plays favorites with his 'children' who suck up to him, but he is also a terrible parent who should have his kids taken away.

"Do what I say, not what I do! Don't ask any questions! My word is law and if you don't like it you can go live in your room for all eternity!"
Not to mention all those people who say god sends tsunamis and hurricanes as punishment. (Child abuse?) How about all the real children in the world who are starving to death? (Neglect?) Or all of his 'children' who spend all their days on earth killing each other? (Absenteeism?)
Sounds like a deadbeat dad.

Although these men may not be the guru’s that you yourself follow, think of the crowds of people who are bombarded by statements such as these all the time. People were looking to them for spiritual guidance:

“I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good. Our goal is a Christian Nation, we have a Biblical duty. We are called by God, to conquer this country. We don't want equal time nor pluralism.”
--Randall Terry, Founder of Operation Rescue

“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”
--Pat Robertson

“AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.”
--Jerry Falwell

I'd like to hear honest opinions; no personal attacks. I realize these statements may come as a shock. Thanks.

Moronmons say they are Christians too, and they are ranked within the Christianity umbrella.

Maybe hate is a strong word...maybe Christians simply despise Mormons?

The Bible is riddled with people singing psalms and dancing for the Lord. They play instruments and enjoy music. I really do not understand.

It seems that most people here just come to the religion section to insult each other. It seems like some kind of war Atheists vs. Theists. Can't the atheists just stop telling the theists they're idiots and the theists stop telling the atheists they'll go to hell and agree that neither of them has ever given good proof that god exists or that he doesn't?
