Not to mention any names, but there is a certain Agnostic/Atheist who reads the Bible. (S)he has been coming on yahoo answers asking questions about the Bible, and exposing Christian hypocrisy with regards to the politics of the Religious Right.

This according to him/her has never been an attack on Jesus or the Bible itself, but on the hypocrisy of pick and choose Christians.

My question is, when a Christian tells someone who isn't a Christian to "read the Bible"; is this always the best advice?

There has not been any harm to Jesus or the Bible, only to the political agenda of the Religious Right, so indeed, is this something the Religious Right wants? is liberals reading the Bible and exposing the hypocrisy of the Religious Right?

if we believe that ALLAH is not like anything in our life ... and we cannot feel ALLAH by our only (given) five senses ... but we feel ALLAH by our hearts , by our believe

if we think about that
ALLAH make seven skies

first sky is just like a ring in the desert (desert here describe the second sky)

second sky is just like a ring in the desert (desert here describe the third sky)

like this until we reach the seventh sky

ALLAH made this and ALLAH completely and without any doubt can made it again and again

nothing in this life can make atom from this thing

nothing in this life can make only a fly
if we (means all of us , scientests which they dead and still alife) have met in one time and unit our minds to make a fly only .. we cannot make at all

this mind that we have ALLAH give it us to think and work and to believe in ALLAH
this mind is too much power but its power also is limited like all things in this life
I still need to write but it's limited

Seriously?
The Christian Church of today is completely unrecognizable from the Early Christian Church -- indeed, if the two could ever meet, they would denounce each other as heretics. No Christian today could even begin to defend the Absolute Truth that the Church proclaimed a short time ago. This included the following beliefs:

* The earth was flat, in accordance with its many descriptions in the Bible. Catholic bishops warned Columbus that he would fall off the edge of the earth for his lack of faith.
* Comets were not celestial bodies obeying the laws of physics; they were fireballs thrown in anger from the right hand of God, and they were messengers of doom and despair.

This question is for just the sake of argument, so don't get offended. Let's say mankind proves God doesn't exist. Do you think that will help mankind or destroy hope for the world? I'm just curious, to what might happen. Where would people turn to look for hope? Will there be peace in the world once and for all or will that create panic and a doomsday for us all?

Here's what the Yahweh is like in the Old Testament:

"Here, eat anything you want, but don't eat the delicious, awesome apples that grow on this tree. Hey snake go tell them....whisper...whisper.... You ate an apple?! How dare you! Get out of my sight! Oh, and it's all that woman's fault so treat all women like dirt from now on!

I want you to go kill your son and offer is blood to me, do it or else! Haha, just kidding!

Stop building that tower! I'm going to destroy it! Now I'm going to make you unable to communicate with each other! Haha! No more engineering for you!

I'm going flood the world and kill all of you people. Now you, drunk! Go build a big boat and somehow fit every animal in the world on it. Even the fish. And stop asking me how you are going to feed the carnivores! That's not my problem!

Hey Jacob? Wanna wrestle? I love your big muscles.

God NEVER seems to show himself or stop the most horrific killings from taking place. Why is that?

I have 8 grandchildren, and I won't be around forever (the doctors give me a couple more years). And so I'm writing my will, deciding how to divide up my money after I'm gone, and I'd pretty much decided on trust funds for each of the 8 grandkids, but there's one who is an atheist and has been for years. His parents aren't really religious either and aren't doing anything about it. Do you think I should cut him out of my will?

Agnostic here, not trying to convert anyone.

Christians have said they oppose gay marriage. They back this with such verses from the New Testement as Romans 1:24-27; and 1 Corinthians 6:9. Clearly after reading these verses we see that God doesn't want gays to marry is an interpretation of the New Testement.

We read this in the NKJV of Matthew 5:32 But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

So to Christians who feel passionately about gay marriage, why have you not stood up for Jesus (PBUH) and lobbyed for legislation to ban remarriage?!?!?!

I think we see clearly in Matthew 5:32 how Jesus feels about divorced persons getting married, how come you feel its so important to push for stopping gays from getting married but you don't try and stop legislatively the divorced persons from getting married?

The war between Christianity and science has raged so long and bitterly that even 100 years ago, Andrew White, a former president of Cornell University, was able to write a huge two-volume history of the conflict entitled The Warfare Of Science With Theology. (1) Exhaustively covering hundreds of historical cases, he was able to demonstrate that the Church generally repeats the same three-step process whenever confronted by a threatening scientific discovery:

* First, the Church tries to crush the "heretical" view, often through censorship and persecution of the scientist.

* But as the evidence supporting the scientific viewpoint inevitably grows, the Church struggles to find a compromise position that incorporates both viewpoints.

Well What was the monkey before it became one? When the monkey began to evolve into the Nebraska Man, the Neanderthal man.. When did the monkey start to grow a penis? At one point to get start to lose its hair, and grow a sense of reason, and conscience? Why is there monkeys running around, but no Neanderthal Man around anywhere? If we didn't come from monkeys then where did we evolve from? Humans didn't just pop out of the ground did they.. I don't want to hear the mutilations thing either, we weren't once maggots..

I'm just asking out of curiousity don't get offended?
I'm sorry I ask more than 1 question at time but I don't want to lose more pts than I have too..

Currently it is acceptable to teach Newtonian physics in school to children. But this classical physics doesn't explain the root cause of the attraction of two bodies with mass. Even 20th and 21 century Theories don't explain as fact the root cause. Should all ideas be taught to school children?
I propose that a Flying Spaghetti Monster is keeping objects on the ground using His Noodly Appendage.

Evolution is a Theory, it is not a fact. I have heard from some that we should teach in school the Intelligent Design Theory. Interesting almost 99% of them are Christians but they don't mention Jesus in their ID. I propose that the Flying Spaghetti Monster created human. Since ID has no empirical evidence of "God" shouldn't equal time be given to the Flying Spaghetti Monster belief, even thou there is no empirical evidence, only faith?

My husband and I have only had a civil marriage. We have thought about someday getting married by the church.I spoke to the priest yesterday and he says that he would just like to talk to my husband to see if he agrees to this and if he is going to want it.I am Catholic, my husband, who was probably brought up Catholic but not completely Catholic, has doubts about how soon we should do this.We were actually seperated for almost one year, we have been through a lot, but are together because of our love and kids.I would like to get married by the church because I would like to be able to confess, and receive the communion. My husband thinks that we can wait until maybe next year.I thought that we could go to the meetings, which the priest said he would only need about two to talk to us and then we can exchange vows.We had a bigger wedding, like the one where we had a party and dressed up like the bride and groom when we got married by court.I really do not see us needing a big thing again...

I'm talking about this nut who obviously learned how to spell by setting off explosives in a box of Alpha Bits cereal and reading the answers to his spelling questions.I'll omit details of his identity because if you've seen his posts you'll know who he is.If there was a spell check for questions he'd have blown his up by now.
