God is just letting people pile up wrath for themselves at this point in history. When he will step into the world one last time in a visible way to the world, it will be too late to turn back to him. There are still ways in which he does miracles today and intervenes, but often people convinced themselves it was just a coincidence.

The film dogma put it best when they said that when anything good happens it must be a miracle, but if its something bad then 'god works in mysterious ways'. I reckon god is having lie in, he has a lot of angels to see to and its probably tiring work

I don't think man is more powerful, but it would seem that man HAS shut God out. It's quite sad, actually.
