I asked this question earlier. And received very few answers. And the answers seemed to be more concerned with convincing me the bible is the "word of God" rather than answering the question.

I'm asking when was the very first time in your life you were told or made aware the bible is not just another book, it is purportedly the "word of God."

Example: When I was (age) my (whomever) told me so. Or however you came to be aware that the bible is supposed to be unique.

Another example (based on my own experience):

When I was about 5 or 6, I began reading. My parents, primarily my mother, told me that the bible was the "word of God." I do not recall her using those exact words, but the implication was clear that the bible was not just another book.

Thanks for your answers.

Go back to where you came from, stop claiming British benefits whilst preaching hate for the west, stop threatening to blow our planes up and murder innocent people.

Got a problem with our leader? Go and attack them not us.

I am asking people basically if they realize that God is the creator of the universe, and it is not possible to take nothing and make something, like it is with the Universe. The "Big Bang" theory goes along with the Bible, when it state God made the Heavens and the Earth, indication it was done at once.

Many people do good things, but only so they can be praised, or for other selfish reasons.
Still, they do good things for whatever reason.

Other people, help others by just being a good person, afterall, rudeness only helps to ruin the econemy.

Why is it that Muslims always get overly defensive when someone bags their religion?

There is no jesus, allah, God, or any other deities that around in the universe, you can create them if you wish but YOU WILL HAVE CONTROL OVER THEM IF YOU COMMAND IT NO MATTER WHAT.

You have the power to do anything, you can’t die, you can be good or evil.

How the question is what would you want in your universe?
How would it be run, if you had humans what rules would you tell man/woman to follow and what would your reward be for the afterlife and how would you publish thoose who broke your rules.

Note: this question does not imply that there is a god or not it is a case of what would you do. So any posts about “oh there is nothing greater than Jesus” etc or “there is no gods” simply means you cannot read the question and is wasting my time.

This is very very WRONG

We have verses in the holly koran that put strict punishment for those who kill civilians and make their life unsafe , people who kill , steal or do any other crimes are punished in Islam .
Islam is not a religion of war , Mouslims fight when they defend their pride , their believes , their holly places , themselves and their families ofcourse and any other non muslim person would do the same thing , this idea is not odd then .

So , why do you hear about those terrorists ( not speaking ofcourse about fighting Occupation and invading armies as any people in the world would fight them )?
I think , these people have been exposed to terrible injustice , they lost hope in life and the reason why they live , some other people take advatage of that and begin teaching them wrong things and use their missery to reach their own goals .
Can you blame Islam for that ?
I don't think so ?
All people might have devastating problems that can be taken advantage of .

Perhaps if you are unhappy with our rights and freedoms you would like to start your own country elsewhere? I am a Christian and many of my family have fought for ALL of our rights to believe or not believe. Some have died for this right. If you do not want this right why not leave? Why should we lose our rights?

Take a look at this question, the answers and the comments. I think that this is a disgusting display of narrowmindedness and bigotry. These same people who are attacking Christians in this manner would call someone who said the same things about black people a racist. Do they not see the hypocracy in their actions?

Reading through some of the answers to the Bono "How do we Make Poverty History" question I was a bit disconcerted to find how many people gave the answer simply as "pray". Does any christian/ jew/ muslem or whatever really put blind faith in an all powerful, omnipotent supernatural god to come save the world when all of our problems are caused by ourselves. War, famine, AIDS and all of the other issues that cause such terrible tradegy around the globe are either caused by or directly associated with the acts of man. Surely the only sollution is for us to sort this mess out ourselves. Your thoughts please...

If you had a group of lions and a group of tigers, would you try and make them share a cage?
They both eat meat, yes?
They both are cats, yes?
Why not then? Because they BOTH think they are king of the beasts......

This is obviously a christo/aethiest Vs muslim question.
I am not trying to be racist and, in fact,am not.
But I am trying for realism.
Ours is not the first generation that has had to deal with the reality of inter-religious conflict . Wars have already been fought in the name of whatever god you choose to believe in.
What is the answer.?
Its obvious that we cannot all live together in harmony. Our differing belief systems do not allow it. Fact.
Human nature is to distrust the unknown. That is proved the world over. The majority of people dont want to know about the other point of view either. You cant force people to be content either.

Should we give in to our instincts and aim for religious segragation or do we chase the higher goal of peace????????

I picture God as a loving, forgiving, compassionate Father. I do not see Him has angry, vengeful, or judging. This is not to say He is incapable of what must be done mind you. This is just how I see Him and identify with Him. I have only felt His mercy in this life. How do you identify with Him and see Him?
