Why are Muslims so over-sensitive to criticism?

Why is it that Muslims always get overly defensive when someone bags their religion?

because they feel insecure in their beliefs, people can talk crap about Christianity all they like it doesn't bother me, Christianity doesn't make me look stupid by wearing a head scarf or oppress me in any way, they have to justify their ignoramus way of life by saying its gods will or else they'd just look plain stupid, its like me waring a potato sack on my head, i know I'm going to be ridiculed but i can justify it by saying im offended that you go against gods word, "I'm not stupid you are" yeah right no matter what they do they sound and act stupid.

If everthing was to be written by Jesus, Prophet Mohmad, Budha etc, than there was no need for the present generation to work, read, write and discover. If man is in the grip of knowledge of evrything he is just like God and need not do any work, duty etc. Such a condition may be the last day for creatures like we have.
There is no point in picking some unexplained point and harass or baffle religious minded people. If today there is a helicopter than it doesnot imply that bullock cart never existed. A bullock cart is heavier and has carried a greater value through out the ages than the helicopter.

nicely you should figure the muslims who're non-violent hostile to those that are... those that are look very radical and take it to a special element, those that are non violent are literally not so tender, besides the shown actuality that there are ones that are non violent that are. It merely relies upon on the muslim. The extremists over contained in the middle-east were born and bred into the killing and terrorism contained in the call of Allah. i imagine all of us could merely use our reliable judgment on those style of persons, no count number what the religion. i'm Christian, yet i believe there are some radical and intense Christians accessible... What do you define as overly sensitive. Nobody , not even the whiney christians get the same abuse that the muslims are getting and you are not seeing people calling for you all to be killed. They see and hear people calling for their death every day.

Define overly defensive. Define 'bag'-ing. How bad is it? Some of the answers in Y!answers are plain rude & untrue. So we defend what is righteously our own from those who are ignorant or misunderstand. Wouldn't you do the same for something that you hold dear to yourself?

Dear brother / Sister

You are totally wrong, Muslims are the most friendly people in the world. Try to visit some of the Arab countries or Pakistan or Indonesia you will see that they are the most hospitable people on earth.

And if you check the media carefully, they are bombarding on the Muslims with all the misconceptions and all evil words on Islam.

so to remove the misconceptions we have to reply to the situation. we cannot keep quite and let the world get the wrong message.

And lets say I call your mother with wrong names xxxxxx. Would you not feel the pain inside your heart, it’s the same way we feel bad when some one says any thing to our Deen ISLAM.

I am an Indian Muslim living in Saudi for 25 years and I felt that the no.1 hospitable people in the world should be given to Arabs, they are the least racist.

Constructive criticism I would accept. A question about my religion I would understand BUT I don't understand Lying about my religion and trying to hijack my religion. Saying stupid things like Islam teaches terrorism, Islam teaches to oppress women, the Quran teaches to kill people, Allah is moon god, we hate/kill all non-Muslims. That kind of stuff needs to be stopped and it is not criticizing it is bashing. In fact it is WE who are being terrorized by laser guided missiles, F-16, tanks, it our countries that are being occupied, it YOUR women who are being oppressed by dressing like provocatively to attract men, it is the Quran that is making Muslims so tolerant, and Allah is the God of the heavens and the earth. So stop bashing Islam. I recommend just reading the Quran and the Life of the last Prophet from a credible source then you can judge for yourself rather speaking without knowledge.

I know a lot of Christians who are very easily offended if you say something against their religion.
Let me say this: when Mohammed received his words from God, it was at a time when few people in the Middle East knew how to read or write, much like in the time of Christ. When Mohammed was allowed to write and read by God, then he passed this wisdom on to his people. So really this was more than a spiritual change for the Middle Easterners, but a whole upgrade in culture.

Their entire progress from then on was based on their religion and they practice it today with that in mind.

If everyone called Black people n*ggers again, should they sit back and accept it with a smile and a nod? Of course not, they can and should protest it. Insulting Muslims is insulting a religion and a way of life, it's just as bad as calling a Black person a n*gger. However, insulting Islam is even worse, and insulting Allah is worst.
