I have a feeling that God has done this in the favor of unity.
Think about it, if us Muslims didn't believe in Jesus as a prophet and then a Christian tried to bash Islam or our prophet with the law we have that says "an eye for an eye and tooth for tooth but if you turn your other cheek around, you will receive a higher level in heaven" with the book they carry so called "Bible", I can bet a million bucks, we would make those Islam bashers wish they had never said anything about Islam, let alone against it.
The same theory goes for Jews vs Christianity. I mean Jews and Christians can argue about Jesus but no other prophet of OT.
Same thing goes for Muslims vs Christians, I have no problem proving Muhammed as a prophet of the SAME ONE God that Jesus bowed down to.

"I know for a fact that you can be executed in Iran if you are rude about Christ".
Do you think that is what Jesus wanted? Also, I know for a fact that you can be executed for being a Christian in some Islamic countries. Is this tolerance? And respect for other religions?
And no I don't think anyone should be rude about Mohammed. Or any revered figure of another's religion. Wasn't it Muslims that blew up the statues of Buddha, in Afghanistan?
Unfortunately, this way of thinking has gone on far too long. Going back to the Crusades--Christians committing crimes against Muslims, and vice-versa. We need moderates from all religions to denounce actions that affect us all.

I am muslim (i am just 14), look the first thing we knew is respecting other religons and thier traditoins ....etc .
2 friends of mine are christians they respect me and i respect them including our habits and tradtions and what we belive in and all of these stuff , and i never got a fight with them cuz of a religion situation.
Bottom line , so if somebody is muslim or christian it doesnt matter cuz he will get the same respect from muslims .

They are probably not rude about Jesus because for them he's an important part of the religion too, although not as important as for Christians.

in america there is much more freedom of speech to be rude about whatever we feel we want to be rude about , in iran , as you said , they will be killed if they speak rudely about another religion , too much freedom in the US to do that.

I think your assumption is not entirely correct my friend.Let us just go to the basic, the respect of each other's religion.

You're right. They just fly planes into buildings. We should strive to be more civil like them.
