HI Jo-Jo,

I agree, there certainly are folks out there and here who are zealous to add your scalp to their belt and suck you into their religion. Stand fast, lad!

Here's a rock to put your anchor on. Authentic Christians are not to argue or use despicable practices to brow beat or trick anyone into believing. The Apostle Paul writes, "For we are not, like so many, [like hucksters making a trade of] peddling God's Word [shortchanging and adulterating the divine message]; but like [men] of sincerity and the purest motive, as [commissioned and sent] by God, we speak [His message] in Christ (the Messiah), in the [very] sight and presence of God." (2 Corinthians 2:17 (Amplified Bible))

That's one way to tell the difference between the genuine and the phony. A genuine Christian will merely proclaim his statement and leave it at that. If you ask, then he may attempt an answer. But he will not hound you because he knows that it's God's spirit that must persuade your spirit to believe anything about God.

Because I'm convinced that I know the truth. And if I know the truth, then anyone who does not know "the truth" (according to this truth that I believe is, indeed, the truth), will go to hell. I simply don't want that to happen. Neither does God (1 Timothy 2:3,4, among others).

My friend used to have a website where he would refute the supposed contradictions of the Bible brought up by another website. The website has since been deleted (webspace needs money), but he actually did a pretty fine job of doing it. I've never seen an actual "contradiction" of the bible that had any validity to it, because people without understand will bring them up.

I think the people interesting in zealous conversions are unsatisfied with their own problems and so they have to go looking elsewhere. It's no different that some form of racism, say in France in the 1970s when they wanted to kick out all foreigners in some cities b/c they felt foreigners were the cause for french ppl's own misfortunes.

Or when the protestants in New England lost a war (which they considered a holy righteous war) against the British at Halifax in the 1680s or 90s and then decided to kill a few unbelievers in their own houses because they couldn't accept they lost as a weaker military power.

Only people who believe that religion is a "Zero-Sum Game" tend to want to convert everyone and threaten people who believe differently.

A zero-sum game is one in which there can be only one winner and one loser. It's like betting on the flip of a coin. There really is no grey area and there are no options for a win-win outcome. In the case of religion, it is when you hold a belief that there is only one path to god/redemption/heaven/salvation.

Think for a moment about how frightening that is. This is a bet and your eternal soul is riding on it. If you are wrong, then you burn in hell for all eternity. Those are really big and threatening stakes. As with anything, most people feel more secure if a lot of people or everyone agrees with them. (Look at all these people who believe what I do -- we can't all be wrong.) And that is fine if that is where it ends.

Unfortunately, it often doesn't end there. If someone comes along and questions your belief, that can be threatening. When people are threatened, they dig in their heels in their belief and hit back with dogma. The best outcome for them would be for you to say, "Wow! You're right. Your path to heaven is the right one. I'll do what you do so I can be safe, too" It's more reinforcement for their belief system and the threat of the possibility that they are wrong has been neutralized.

I'm a Christian and I'm not trying to convert anyone. But if you don't want me to convert you, do the same - don't criticize my beliefs. I believe the Bible is the Word of God and is not contradicting. I have read the entire Bible many times and as a whole, it makes sense. If you don't believe in the Lord, that's fine - allow those of us who do believe the opportunity to do so without being mocked. If your question is more about curiousity, then read the Bible for yourself to find answers (lots of non-Christians have researched the Bible to be more knowledgable and/or accepting of others).

Please point out a contradiction..........but before you do that, take what you think to be a contradiction and then go read the Bible and get back to everyone.

Because it is very important that people know that Jesus loves them and is the only true and living God and the only one who can forgive, remove and cleanse people from all their sins. The Holy Bible is not contradicting. Just because you do not understnad all if it does not make it contradicting.
Jesus Christ is the Only Way to Heaven!

In The Holy Bible in John14:6 “Jesus saith unto, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” He meant: I am the only way to get to God the Father and to heaven. I am the only truth you need to know to get to God the Father and to heaven. I am the only spiritual life available to mankind. In other words, I am the only true and living God. All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. They are Satan or his demons appearing to be gods. No other so-called god has any power to forgive, remove and cleanse men from all their sins and get them to God the Father and to heaven.
The Holy Bible in Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him (God); for he that cometh to God must believe (have faith) that he (God) is, and that he (God) is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (God).” Parentheses mine!
I pray that, by faith, you will acknowledge that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only true and living God. (Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus {that Jesus is Lord} and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believed unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”).
I pray you will believe all of this and, by faith, accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from all your sins (Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” and Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”) and that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have all your sins forgiven, removed and cleansed and the only way you can get to God the Father and to heaven. I pray you will, by faith, acknowledge all of this and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, remove and cleanse you from all your sins and accept Him into your heart and life to live for Him the rest of your life. (John l :12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to come sons {children} of God, even to them that believe on his name.”) All of this is what is meant when the Lord Jesus Christ said: “Jesus answered, and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto, Except a man be born again , he cannot see the kingdom of God (go to heaven).” You were born physically into your earthly family. To go to heaven you must be born again spiritually into your heavenly family, God's spiritual family. If you never have, I pray you will, by faith, turn from all your sins and receive Jesus Christ into your life/heart today, without delay. Do that today.
