I know times are tense right now with the things happening in the world. I still maintain that we should try and respect each other. I am talking about day to day activities with others. When i say respect I don't mean we agree, just that we can still co-exisist with others that are different than us. I usually ask for people to do something nice for someone else. Maybe we need that more today than ever. Please -'Give peace a chance."-John Lennon

Jesus did not preach hate. I have no idea who is gay and I really don't have a need to know. respect is not agreeing it is saying you are still a person and I don't need to insult you because you are different. Also religion can be a beautiful thing when it is practiced and not abused to hurt others.-peace

Johnny W. that is what I mean about abusing religion instead of practicing it. "judge not, lest ye be judged." I am sorry if someone said that to you in the name of Jesus Christ- they were not practicing religion - they were practicing hate. maybe hate has become the new religion. Jesus so loved the world he died for us. Not just for some but for the whole world. This morning I am just saying 'respect". Not agreement. This is America and you can believe anything you want- you have that right-peace

joeysolady- I did not say "admire and agree" When I say respect I mean - do not insult or otherwise abuse people because fo their beliefs. I may be the only example of a christian someone may know - what is my example- Hi- oh you don't believe what I believe - guess what - you are going to hell. I have to agree to disagree you are too into words on a page and not the spirit of Jesus and what he was about. Read HIS words. Also it does sound like you do respect others at work. They may lead a lifestyle today that is not what you think is the right one but next year could be different. I led my whole life without Jesus and did as I pleased. I had a religious experience that changed my life. I am like two different people. He loved me even in my sin and called me to him when I never would have believed he would or could. Miracles happen everyday. That sinner who is sitting next to you may one day be sitting in your own church. They may even surpass you in wisdom and learning.

In that case alone, you shall be a true follower of mylord Jesus. If we donot love people,we donot love God. If we donot thank people, we offer no thanksgiving at all. Also, we should respect all The Names of God in all the Cultures. Mylord did not speak English. So, the word GOD was never spoken by him. Other cultures do have Glorious Names like Allah, Yahweh, Parmatma, AhuraMazda.... Respect them all, please and thus express your noble thoughts.. by deeds. May God bless you !

Sounds all pretty on paper (or on screen... )
How about instead of "lets respect humans" .... try..
Lets Respect & Honor our Lord!
He is the #1 man, (as a Christian) the only thing you & I should be concerned with is
.. Talking to these people about how Jesus Christ died for everyones sins. we are ALL sinners.. & telling them how their sins can be washed away & they can be forgiven.. & have a place in heaven! That is the nicest & best thing you will ever do for someone!
Telling everyone to be just "fruity & all get along" & Respect each other no matter what... IS NOT going to get anyone saved or lead them on the right path to finding the truth...or make the World "Peaceful & Perfect" ever!
So... You are actually saying that we all should RESPECT someone.. who has NO respect for innocent life, Is living an immoral "alternative" lifestyles, molests lil' kids, bombs innocent people...?? (The list goes on & on & on!)
RESPECT is a very big word... I guess that needs defining:
To me Respect means... TO look up to.. have a mutual understanding, You RESPECT someone for their character, morals, inner qualities, cuz you REALLY do know there heart, their mind, You trust them, ect...
If you can not agree with the way someone is living their life style.. & find it immoral & disgusting & God says it is wrong..
Well...You CAN NOT truly & honestly RESPECT them!
However, You CAN ..
care about them,
pray for them, love them & hope that they will change for the good, & still be civil with them or friends with them....
RESPECT IS EARNED.. It is NOT a Given....
I encounter tons of "different" people everyday at work...we all peacefully co exist, are friendly, & curtious to each other...even though we don't see eye to eye..
We don't really "have true respect" for each other, we co exist & act like adults & do what we need to do..from day to day. we can all have a civil conversation, & be friendly.
Also as a Christian you should know that TRUE PEACE will not happen in this world until' Jesus Returns... You should know that this world is full of evil, sin, & is Lost!...
The World needs JESUS!!!
NOT, John Lennon.. He had some good tunes in the day & well thats about it....
GOD BLESS

I completely agree with you. As I said in another answer, God ate with sinners. He talked to sinners. He loves sinners. He came to save the sinner. And we all are sinners! Every last one of us! Jesus said to the people who wanted to stone a woman caught in adultery, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Everyone walked away. Yet so many Christians today are like those hypocrites, saying things like God hates gays, you are evil if you have an abortion, etc. Since they are not sinless themselves, they have no right to judge others.
I don't even believe that you have to accept Jesus to get to Heaven, just like so many Christians do. What if you love God with your whole heart and strive to do His will and are a peaceful and loving person, but your God is not Jesus? Many Christians would say this person will go to Hell. I don't believe this is so. Yes, we are all sinners and in need of forgiveness, but God knows our hearts, and I have to believe that counts for something.
So anyway, I am in. Please Christians, love your fellow man and respect them always. That is Jesus' commandment to us. Remember, you are no better than any of the people that you despise. We are all in the same boat. Jesus loves us all!
