Can you lose your salvation? Others argue that if a 'Christian' goes to hell, they were not saved to begin with. I believe that God is just and looks at each person's heart and intentions, irrelevant of unforgiven sins commited. Just interested in knowing other Christian's thoughts on the topic. Please, serious answers only. And please no input from angry agnostics either!

no we cannot lose our salvation. it is ours to accept from the moment we are born. it is waiting for everyone to receive. the acceptence of salvation is the problem that most people have. they want what god has to offer, but they don't want to change in order to get it. jesus christ said that those turning their faces from him, his father would also turns his face from. in other words we have a trust fund of eternity from god waiting on us. we just have to do what it takes to get it. it hopes this helps. read the books of john and peter. they will help you in the answers you seek. the best advice i can give anyone is to read gods word, question it and discuss it with someone educated in it. god bless you.

I agree with you to a certain extent. I do think that a person has to ask God into their heart & truly believe at some point, but it doesn't have to be in some proper, orderly manner; just however it happens. If a person has simply never believed there is a God but has always had a good heart & good intentions, I'm not so sure that God is going to let them into His house. As far as confessing with your mouth on a daily basis or however often, your sins & asking for forgiveness, I believe that God wants you to do this, but if you didn't do it that often & you had a bunch of sins that you hadn't confessed openly like that, & you passed on, He wouldn't hold it against you & send you to Hell. You were already forgiven when Jesus died, all you've got to do is believe. I suppose the only way you could lose your salvation is if you stopped believing in God, completely. But I think once God has a hold of you, He's going to keep pulling you in every time you stray & there's no way He's going to let it happen! I believe, personally, He'll take you home before He lets that happen. There's so many questions & so many different viewpoints on so many things in Christianity. It's kind of exhausting, because you may have enough trouble staying on steady ground, your faith, that is. But at the end of the day, I just say, I believe & that's it, I'll understand the rest when God calls me home!

To lose your salvation would be the wrong word. You can forefit your salvation. That can be done simply by rebeling against God and back sliding, however you cannot simply lose your salvation due to sin... Read Revelation 3:5 it shows that you can easily be "blotted out" of the book of life in which every born again Christians name is written in.

EDIT:
Keep in mind, although God does look at your heart, if your not born again your not born again... simple fact. You cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless you are born again.
EDIT:
That is as long as you have the mind to be able to choose salvation, as far as infants are concerned and etc.
EDIT... Again:
Also keep in mind, your opinions are fine and all but remember you must set a conclusion on the Bible... Although there are scriptures that could lean both ways by just regular interpretation, look back and do a concordance search on the words and they tend to differ from what you would think. I think Rev. 3:5 is clear and simple establishing that your name can be blotted out of the book of life.

Mk 13:13 All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
-- Although someone has accepted God's offered salvation, we're warned that some people will turn away from God to save themselves from persecution.

Lk 8:13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.
-- If someone believes the word, they're led to the acceptance of the fact of salvation and will be saved. As in Mk 13:13, they later turn away from that truth and salvation to save themselves.

Jn 15:6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
-- When we're saved it's said we're in Christ and he in us. Here, Jesus says it's possible for us to leave him. The second part of the quote is an illustration of Hell.

1 Tim 1:19 . . . Holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.
-- A person can only reject their faith if they had faith to begin with. This is shown in 1 Tim 1:16 where it says that those described in 1:19 have believed in Jesus and received salvation. Once the faith is rejected, salvation goes with it. A ship that sinks loses all people and possessions on board.

Heb 6:4-6 As it is impossible for those who have been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
-- Some have argued that those who fall away weren't really saved in the first place. When someone is saved, the Holy Spirit is sent to them as a guide. Verse 4 clearly states that the people referred to have received the Holy Spirit. Verse 6 just as clearly states that they've fallen away and rejected Jesus, God, and the truth of God's word and thus the accompanying salvation.
** This is the clearest statement that makes it obvious that "once saved, always saved" is a great heresy of the modern church. By so teaching people the doctrine of eternal security, a great danger arises. People will come to think they can do anything and still be saved, which isn't the case.

2 Pet 2:20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were in the beginning.
-- Knowing our Lord is knowing the truth of his saving us and accepting the offered salvation. Being again overcome by the corruption of the world is to renounce Christ and reject salvation.

Jude 4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
-- This letter from Jude was written because of his concern for other people s salvation. He's warning others not to follow false teachers. This warning would only be necessary if those he wrote to were saved and that salvation could be lost.

The Bible fully explains that salvation can be lost. The most clearly stated message is in Heb 6:4-6.

The Bible teaches "Once Saved, Always saved."

The important thing to know is that it is hard to look at someone and see if they have been saved. Remember Judas was with the other Apostles and performed miracles and was taught and followed Jesus. It was only when he betrayed Jesus that his true heart was shown.

If your salvation changes who you are and the way you live your life, focused on the Gospel of Jesus then you are saved. You will still continue to sin, out of weakness. But as long as you don't knowingly and continually continue to sin you will slip onboard the ship of Salvation but not slip overboard.

in accordance to Christian dogma you unfastened salvation with the aid of not believing that Jesus Christ is your man or woman savior. the only thank you to heaven is thru Christ. that's not what i've got faith yet that's what the church believes, and the constructs of what guy has geared up around Christianity as a faith. So, the qualification for leaving "Christianity" could be turning your back on Christ. that's a blanket fact, regardless of if, by using fact distinctive sects of Christianity have faith in distinctive skills consisting of: works, acts, sacraments, and so on. you're superb suited however what's faith and theory to a minimum of one guy or woman ought to be an completely distinctive factor to a distinctive. there is no super Christian ruler to place down what makes you a Christian and what would not. The Bible is open to interpretation, and as a result its as much as its readers to ascertain the way you benefit salvation. isn't existence extra with regard to the way you reside it besides? in accordance to 3 you will possibly be an evil guy or woman the whole existence, yet once you're saying sorry and settle for Christ on your loss of life mattress and actually propose it salvation would be granted to you. would not you somewhat stay an excellent and finished existence and be "incorrect" yet know you a minimum of did what you deemed as superb suited rather than residing in concern of eternal damnation?

Yes you can. according to Hebrews 6 :4 It "is impossible for those who have once been enlightened,,,..,to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace" there are other verses also like where Jesus said many people will come to him saying "Lord. Lord we prophesied cast out spirits and did many good works in your name . and he will say "Depart from me workers of inequity for I never knew you!" That certainly isn't atheists that are calling Jesus Lord but Christians .There are other verses too but its too much to go into .Once saved always saved isn't right
I just believe there is a balance to either extreme.

salvation is guaranteed to those who believe. keeping the faith through actions by living a Christ like life, not worrying about tomorrow, forgiving yourself and others, not holding judgment, by being patient, kind, generous and loving, all the ways Christ teaches and has asked us to be, lets us live with a joyous heart in expectation of a heavenly future and a heavenly now. if we live with the actions of doubt by being fearful, angry, judgmental...etc. then, for sure we live in our own mind made hell and our perception of heavenly salvation has turned to an expectation of future hell. salvation is guaranteed to those who believe. salvation is as you believe. love your neighbor as your self... your Christ like self. in the twinkling of an eye Christ will come, it only takes a holy instant to see the Christ in the twinkling eye of a neighbor. peace to you
