I have 2 daughters on their own both in relationships. I have a 17 yr old and an 8 yr old still @ home. All of my kids are girls. We do not have a close extended family so there wont be gifts from grandparents or aunts and uncles ect. Oldest daughter is in Iraq in the Army. I have always worked hard to make Christmas special for them due to the lack of extended family.

How do you know when to cut back on your kids christmas gifts? I have a 28 year old Daughter, married with children, a 22 year old son in college, and a 16 year old son. My husband and I just purchased our first home, so money is kinda tight, and we wanted to cut back on christmas, but I really don't know what is an appropriate amount to spend on the kids. Have you ever noticed how some Christmas cards depict scenes of shoppers all bundled up and braving blizzard like conditions to do their Christmas shopping? What's with that, anyway? Everybody knows that most of the stores would be closed under conditions such as that! C'mon, get real.
