My husband of 15 yrs is a recovering alcoholic and we never had a sober holiday until 2 yrs ago. I hated for the holidays or a birthday to roll around because I knew it was not going to be a joyous occasion. Alcohol is the worse thing to have at a holiday celebration. Some drinkers are total jerks. Oh! Happy Holidays!

Yip, my boyfriend made it very uncomfortable to be around others, including my family last year, I just didn't know what he might do and when, sometimes it was embarrasing and other times it was just plain horrible and I found myself making excuses for why he was acting a certain way. We are married now and he has quit drinking but my family still doesn't trust him, but I have all the faith in the world in him.

I grew up in a house where we did not drink to toast anything..so when my Dad pulled out the Cold Duck to toast my wedding day..I about fainted! We never drank..but one year Daddy made homemade Waisalle..good grief it was bitter and really icky! We have kept with Hot Cocoa ever since!! Now..my daughter's inlaws are big drinkers whenever their big family gets together.. she still has trouble enjoying those times with them! (...some traditions are not so bad to pass down, I guess..).

no, as I am one of the very few who are able to say because of a medical condition am unable to drink alcoholic beverages.

yes it has...my mothers last christmas on earth before she died of cancer was ruined by a drunken family memeber hitting on her knowing she was a married woman she was so hurt and embaressed! damn drunks make me sick!
