I would say not to big ,small to medium, other wise you end up eating turkey for week, Myself I buy a small turkey , then cook a small ham,or some other kind of meat, just for variation , with all the roast potatoes, boiled potatoes ,veg and so on. You never know who will pop round later ,so you´ll have plenty to offer should they decide to stay for supper. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Well, that depends on whether you like leftovers, which most people do. Turkey leftovers make great sandwiches, not to mention turkey soup!
For three people though, you certainly don't need a very large turkey. The smallest turkey I've seen at the market though is about 12 lbs. That would be plenty for three people - and you'll have leftovers. Have a great lunch!

One you have decided on the type of turkey you want to buy,you can figure on 1 pound of turkey per person. If the turkey is prestuffed, allow 1-1/4 pounds per person. This will provide generous servings with enough left over for second day dishes.

I would go for a 6lb bird, as that will include the giblets. At that size, you can go for a good one - bronze or Norfolk black. Get free range, it is worth it, organic even better.
