All that effort for one day. Theres so much fakeness about it all. Its far too commercial. I've never known such tackyness.

I'm American, so I've sometimes wondered what it must be like to have Christmas during the summer instead of the winter. In the US and many other countries in the Northern Hemisphere, the ideal Christmas is a "White Christmas", as the song goes. Do people in the Southern Hemisphere often celebrate Christmas by swimming or engaging in some other outdoor activity? Do people in Australia or New Zealand ever sing "White Christmas"?

This year I would like to start my own traditions for my family . Here is the problem my husband has always went to his mothers for christmas because he never had his own family well now that we are married and have kids ( three step and one biological) he still wants this tradition . I like the idea of starting our own with me making dinner and letting the kids enjoy there gifts all day around the house . I should also say that there tradition has you up and at her house by nine that does not even give the kids time to really even look at there gifts . I keep trying to tell my husband that my oldest is fourteen and he will be off to college before we know it and i want him to have traditions of our own. is there any one who can help??

Has anyone started Christmas shopping yet? I picked up a few things, but was wondering if I'm starting to early.

With all of the issues with lettuce, spinich, and now tomatoes recently I have decided not to serve a salad course with Thanksgiving dinner this year. I would love to serve a vegatable (the main dinner has too few, but I don't want to add there) or some other yummy - and possibly healthy - first course. Stuffed artichokes are out becuase my guests don't like them. Any have an idea that does not involve raw produce? I actually like my in-laws and don't want to serve them e-coli or salmonella.
