My boyfriend has not spent a Christmas with his family in several years, and this year he will be spending it with my family.

I want to make it really special for him. What are some Christmas traditions in Mexico? How can I incorporate them into my own celebration without looking like I'm trying too hard?

or perhaps a pilgrim for Thanksgiving. I am more interested in dinnerware made from melamine or acrylic or corelle than fine china as there will be little hands that can break the dishes using them. I have searched the internet for three months almost daily. All I managed to find was 4 tumblers and 8 dessert plates with leaves and acorns. Anyone know where to get a set? (I have also been to all the major dept stores, every dollar store, home store, world market in south texas that sells dishes. HELP!

It hurts very much to see non christians do their little "research" on the origins of OUR<(*cough coucgh*who said that?) beloved holiday christmas. the facts are: yes. the early church, on having converted many pagans, placed christmas, and valentines day and such on the dates of pagan holidays. that is the facts. however if you are not Catholic you will not know WHY the early Christians did this. The early christians understood what it means for very large cultures to suddenly convert their religion, and they wanted to replace their old traditions with new ones that they could cherish and understand in the same way. For example; if there was a tree they belived to be spiritual or significant in their pagan beliefs, the apostles would bless the tree and consencrate it to God, so that it did not take away the tradtions but instead replaced it with a christian one. for Christmas, instead of celebrating the sun god on dec. 25th, the new christians celebrated the birth of Jesus. opinions?

Nothing expensive, I don't really want to spend more than like 40 bucks total on all of them together and I have 6 females and 2 males. So 8 all together, something nice but as cheap as possible. Thanks.

Not willing to use credit cards this year, sorry people! I've really cut down on our list over the years to just close family members, but still it's so expensive. Sorry but we don't get bonuses for xmas. I did at a job a long time ago! I am a SAHMom and we live off one income but we wouldn't qualify for anything either b/c we make TOO much money so don't offer me those ones!

I'm also tired of getting crap for xmas like wow I need another batch of stale cookies, or stinky bubble bath from a cheap store. Sorry but I'd rather have my family members take all that money and help someone that's starving somewhere. I don't want crap, I'll just give it away then. If we are all to poor to not give what we really want to give like vacations and trips to the spa, can't we just forget it?

i was thinking yesterday that thanksgiving is about being thankful and i'm thankful that God sent his only son to die for us and at Christmas we celebrate the birth and start of the first part of the prophecy
