My boyfriend has not spent a Christmas with his family in several years, and this year he will be spending it with my family.

I want to make it really special for him. What are some Christmas traditions in Mexico? How can I incorporate them into my own celebration without looking like I'm trying too hard?

Las Posadas---a reinactment of the Holy family trying to find a room in Bethlehem. People process from house to house in communities---sing, pray, and enjoy special foods.

Tamales are a great Christmas meal item. Attending Midnight Mass is also very popular. Gifts for Dia de Los Reyes on January 6 is more popular in some parts of Mexico than gifts on Christmas which is set aside for church.

I have family in mexico, though I havent spent christmas there in years I remeber they had a nativity scene set by the christmas tree. And on christmas eve there would be alot of people at the house and they would sing some songs ( dont know what they were though cause I was really little) and pass around baby jesus and kiss him. And then everyone would gather and go out with candles and sing to the neighbors kinda like caroling I guess.. Thats all I can remember
