My tradition is December 1st. It's a mini-holiday for us. We put on either christmas music or the Charlie Brown Christmas special and start decorating the house.

It gives you some time to recover from Thanksgiving, while at the same time giving you the entire month of December to enjoy the holiday.

Before it snows.

When I used to decorate for Christmas I'd do it the day after Thanksgiving.

I always hang outside lights before Thanksgiving (but don't light till after) just because it's warmer outside usually. Don't put anything else out until Thanksgiving weekend. Inside however, I start decorating first couple weeks of November, just because I have so much stuff and takes forever to finish.

Most of the people I know start on Thanksgiving. In my family we always waited until the last birthday in December so it was after DEC. 15. Myself the kids live out of state and I hate to put them up and don't. to each there own

Please, not until at least the day after Thanksgiving. I've been seeing Christmas stuff in the stores since Labor Day. By the time Christmas gets here, it doesn't feel special anymore.

On the basis of department stores, August is a good time.
For everyone else, any time after Thanksgiving works.

The weekend after Thanksgiving, but remember to take them down before the New Year comes in! We normally take ours down around the 29th or the 30th.

November the 25th. A day after my birthday (that way it doesn't mingle with christmas) ;) and it's a month before christmas... so thats when the Carols start playing on the radio. cool?

I don't know what the thanksgiving date is but I tend to do mine in the first week of December, because it gives a nice Christmassy atmosphere leading up to the big day.
